Star Wars: Andor Episode 8 is out now! Created by Tony Gilroy, the prequel series to the 2016 Star Wars spin-off Rogue One has Tony Gilroy, Dan Gilroy, Stephen Schiff and Beau Willimon as the writers for the show.
The show has an ensemble cast that has Diego Luna reprising his role of Cassian Andor aka Kassa along with Kyle Soller as Syril Karn, Adria Arjona as Bix Caleen, Joplin Sibtain as Brasso, James McArdle as Timm Karlo, Rupert Vansittart as Chief Hyne, Stellan Skarsgård as Luthen Rael, Fiona Shaw as Maarva Andor, Alex Ferns as Sergeant Linus Mosk, Gary Beadle as Clem Andor, Genevieve O’Reilly as Mon Mothma and Denise Gough as Dedra Meero. The runtime of the eighth episode is 50 minutes.

Andor Episode 8: Narkina 5
After a victorious episode 6, it has been a sad series of affairs in and for Andor. In the previous episode, our lone hero was captured and falsely accused and sent to prison. The prison is the name of the latest episode titled ‘Narkina 5’ and revolves around Cassian’s sad days in capture and the events around that time.
We see Cassian working in a mundane way in a heavy industry, much as we did at the start of the series. Only this time, he is a prisoner with hundreds of others in the same boat as him. With Cassian in prison and his whereabouts unknown, we have the reunion of Vel and Cinta and their search for the man who helped them win the battle in Aldhani. Maarva too is looking for Cassian as she is ill and she contacts Luthen through Bix for the same. But, the revolutionary’s spark seems long gone with the dangers of being a traitor to the Empire luring closer to him.
With all this unfolding in the background, Meero leads her investigation. She questions Karn about what happened at Ferrix, who is more than happy to help. Karn even suggests assisting Meero but, the help isn’t as appreciated as it should be, making us again do a double wondering where does Meero’s loyalty lie?

Andor Episode 8 Ending Explained
As if the entire gloom of the situation was not enough, Andor Episode 8 ends with a rather heartbreaking note. We see Bix getting arrested by the Stromtroopers and Meero is all set to torture out Cassian’s whereabouts from our little bot-friend. We also see the Empire moving closer to cracking the connection between Luthen and Cassian.
As for Cassian, his days in Narkina 5 seem disastrous. Survival seems tough and, if he wants to live, there is only one way to do it- go rogue and break free.
Andor Episode 8: Final Thoughts
Andor is playing a beautiful political game with its viewers. In episode 8, hidden in the underlayers of sadness and melancholy is the terror of the Empire and the constant urge to find freedom. By far, Andor Episode 8 was one of the saddest episodes in the series, especially looking at Diego Luna’s Cassian in prison, his soul being stripped off his body with every passing day. It wasn’t harrowing per se, but it was truly overwhelming knowing what comes after the silver lining and the sunshine is gone from people’s lives.
Bix’s torture, Karn’s constant rejections, Luthen’s exposition and Cassian’s survival, everything seems to be falling apart and most of the people’s hands are tied. Like, our beloved Mon’s funds being frozen. Hopefully, the upcoming episodes will bring some change in the story, some revolution in the making as the Rebels take the full lead against the Empire’s senseless cruelty.
