Will There Be The Girls at the Back Season 2?

The series follows Carol, Olga, Sara, Alma and Leo, five close friends since school, who organize a one-week getaway together every year without exception. This year, something has come up that will force them to invent new rules of the game – One of them has been diagnosed with cancer.

They travel from Madrid to Cadiz, where things get frisky when they try to complete their bucket-list challenges throughout the week. Starting from making out with a girl to doing drugs together, committing a crime, resolving unfinished business to being completely honest with each other; the group becomes even closer with clarity about their lives.

Carol slowly starts to realise how her marriage is not as happy as she thinks and how her whole life is controlled by her husband. After reading the texts from her friends talking about her manipulative relationship with Ruben, it makes her think about what she wants from her life. Although she goes back to her family, now we are yet to see what she has decided.

Whether she will get out of her marriage or seek the help of a counsellor. Olga also broke off with David but she still misses him and imagines having the garlic sandwich together. It’s no doubt that they were a great match and maybe Olga might change her mind and start off a new relationship with him.

Likewise, Sara and Alma go back to their respective families, as they don’t want to gamble their friendship for a romantic relationship. But after spending an intimate week together, will they be able to move on in their lives or reveal the truth to everyone? Leo also was starting her chemo, as her mother agrees to take care of her father with Alzheimer’s.

It was said that she had cancer, but it wasn’t revealed at which stage she is. The show was released as a mini-series, which means it’s meant to be a one-time thing. But looking at the ending premises, the possibility of another season is not nil. Like Leo might recover from cancer and how her friendship and relation with her mother evolved in this period, could be explored.

What does Carol decide to do about her marriage and will Sara and Alma give their love for each other a chance or not, this is a big question too! Similarly, Olga and her relationship with David will remain just a good memory or a step for her to finally settle down with someone.

Although, no news of renewal has been released by Netflix or its creators yet. But depending on its reception and popularity among the audience, the creators could explore the questions that are left unanswered by the series.

The Girls at the Back is currently streaming on Netflix.
