MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 44 Review: Auction for Immunity

MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 44 is called ‘Time Auction Immunity Pin Challenge’. The new episode has only judges Andy Allen and Jock Zonfrillo as Melissa Leong is unwell. The contestants who will be a part of the new challenge are Dan, Julie, Mindy and Billie. They made the best dishes in the previous episode and have immunity for Sunday’s elimination. In the new episode, they have to cook again to win the last immunity pin of the season.

The synopsis reads, “The cooks with the four top dishes this week have won immunity from Sunday’s elimination. Now they battle it out to win the final immunity pin.”

MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 44 Recap Contains Spoilers

In the Time Auction Immunity Pin Challenge of MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 44, the cooks have to auction time for the ingredients they want. Dan gives up 70 minutes for Moreton Bay Bugs and has 50 minutes left. Julie gives up 30 minutes for the lamb and has 90 minutes left. Billie gives up 80 minutes for eggs and has 40 minutes lift. Mindy ends up with Tripe, a protein with which she has never left. She has all 120 minutes left for herself.

After auctioning some more time for the veggies, fruits and sauces, the contestants are left with less time. Mindy has 85 minutes left, Julie has 75 minutes to cook her dish, Billie has 40 minutes, and Dan has 30 minutes to cook a dish. The first person to start cooking in the MasterChef Australia Season 14 kitchen for the final immunity pin is Mindy.

Despite not knowing what to do with the Tripe, Mindy makes a complete dish. She cooks Celeriac Steak with root vegetable miso broth and crispy tripe. The judges love her cook on the tripe but believe the dish didn’t sing well together. Julie makes Lamb with eggplant paste. The judges love Julie’s dish a lot.

MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 44 Review: Final Thoughts

I love Time Auction challenges in MasterChef Australia as we see the contestants bidding for what they really want. Some of the best dishes are made in lesser times. In Episode 44, I truly believe Billie should have got the immunity pin as she cooked a delicious-looking and mouth-watering dessert in just 40 minutes.
