God’s Favorite Idiot, a workplace comedy TV show was released on Netflix on 15 June 2022. The show follows the story of Clark Thompson, an IT support guy who accidentally becomes the messenger of God amid the threat of apocalypse. The series is created by Ben Falcone and stars Melissa McCarthy, his real-life partner, as they collaborated again on this project after having previously worked together on numerous projects like Nobodies and Life of the Party.
The show has 8 episodes in total with a runtime of about 25-30 minutes respectively. In the show, Clark Thompson (Ben Falcone) gets struck by lightning, while looking for his cats outside and soon starts glowing. He then discovers that he has been chosen to become a messenger for God and must work to help stop the impending apocalypse with the help of his co-workers and girlfriend Amily (played by Melissa McCarthy).
Will there be God’s Favorite Idiot Season 2?
In the last episode, God has finally given Clark Thompson a detailed mission to help save the world from the apocalypse. He has to escape from Satan and the four horsemen of the apocalypse Pestilence, Storm, Famine and Death, to reach his designated destination. He asks Amily if she would like to accompany him as they run from the hospital. In the last scene, they are on their way in their car as they are expressing their feelings for each other.

Where are they going is not mentioned, not even Amily knows as it has been telepathically told to Clark, where he needs to go. So, taking the incomplete ending into consideration, since the war in heaven is still going on and the world is on the verge of ending, then season 2 has to be released. In fact, the entire series has 16 episodes, but the production was halted due to some reason by Netflix after 8 episodes.
Therefore, the series was released with 8 episodes but the shooting for the following episodes has not been started yet and there is no confirmed date for resuming. Since the story is of 16 episodes then there’s a big possibility for the Season 2 to come in the coming year at least. Although nothing has been confirmed by Netflix or its creator Ben Falcone whether we will get to see Clark and Amily saving the world.
