Better Call Saul Mid Season Finale Review: Bob Odenkirk Starrer Only Gets Better, Gives a Major Shocker in the End!

Better Call Saul Season 6 started streaming new episodes on April 18. The prequel to the Breaking Bad series is created by Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould. The show stars Bob Odenkirk as Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman, Rhea Seehorn as Kim Wexler, Jonathan Branks as Mike Ehrmantraut, Patrick Fabian as Howard Hamlin, and Michael Mando as Nacho Varga, Tony Dalton as Lalo Salamanca and Giancarlo Esposito as Gus Fring.

Better Call Saul Mid Season Finale has 7 episodes in total. The synopsis for the latest season reads, “Whatever happens next, it’s not gonna go down the way you think it is.”

Better Call Saul Mid Season Finale Review Contains Mild Spoilers

Better Call Saul Season 6 picks up where season 5 left us off. Jimmy is now fully transformed into the wicked Saul Goodman. It is easier for him this time because his partner in crime is his life partner, Kim Wexler. Together, the duo comes up with different tricky plans to make Howard Hamlin’s life a nightmare.

While Saul and Kim are going on with their scandalous plans, Nacho has a big mission to achieve regarding Lalo Salamanca. But the challenges are innumerable, whether it is for Saul or Kim or Gus, Nacho, Mike, Lalo and the other bad guys. But the person who suffers the most in the latest season is Howard Hamlin.

I do not want to give away any spoilers as I understand not everyone must have watched all the episodes. I can discuss how the makers have gotten more into detail about Nacho and Lalo in the sixth season. Lalo, especially is too charming to resist. He has a style, and no one, I repeat, no one in the BCS or BB universe has had it!

Another character that surprised me is Kim Wexler. What happened to the righteous lawyer who was never pleased with Jimmy’s faulty ways? I think it’s more than her love for him. Kim enjoys her vicious side. It reminded me of Bryan Cranston’s Walter White. He started making meth due to his illness but started enjoying it because it made him feel good about himself.

Coming to Saul Goodman, we see his way of working and style taking their full form in season 6. With every episode, the show is getting closer to the Breaking Bad timeline when Walt and Jesse (Aaron Paul) got hold of Saul. So do they appear in the show? Well, watch to find out the same. Gus Fring and Mike are going on about their plans. Like the previous seasons, Gus is still the poised, ruthless man.

Coming to performances, Bob Odenkirk is an absolute treat to watch as Saul Goodman in his fullest form. But it also hits you with a realisation that this is the final season. Rhea Seehorn as Kim Wexler has shown a great transition. It’s startling but also exhilarating to watch. If she has supported Saul’s crooked work, what happened to her? Why was she not there in Breaking Bad?

Actor Tony Dalton, Michael Mando and Patrick Fabian are phenomenal in the series. Their characters are put through some challenging situations. These actors truly gave their best in those moments.

Better Call Saul Season 6 Finale Review (Part 1): Final Thoughts

Overall, the first half of Better Call Saul Season 6 has only gotten better than the previous seasons. Every episode was a treat to watch. Every actor got enough space to shine through their performance. The narrative has become crispier and more dramatic. The last episode will shock you to the core. And you know what the sad part is? We will have to wait for 2 months for the second half to come out.
