Spy x Family Episode 7 Overview
Spy x Family, sometimes stylised as SpyxFamily, is an action and comedy anime based on a manga written by Tatsuya Endou and serialised in Shounen Jump+. The manga quickly became among the magazine’s most popular ongoing properties, and thus, an anime adaptation was inevitable. The anime adaptation is being tackled by Studios Wit and CloverWorks, and it would be an insult to your intelligence as anime fans to tell you the shows these two studios have made. You are already well aware.
The anime is being directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi, who has previously served the same position in shows such as Dororo, HunterxHunter (1999), and Rurouni Kenshin. Spy x Family Episode 7 Review- An Apology Gone Wrong
It is not hard to see why the terminally online and raised by the internet generation loves this show. Who wouldn’t want to watch a loving and doting family making sure to do everything they can to give you the best chance of success? Whose heart doesn’t get warmed when witnessing the glory of the found family trope going right? Who in their right mind wouldn’t want to root for one of the cutest and most expressive child characters ever to be put on television?

The magic of the show, if you could call it that, is in the little things. The expressions Anya makes that take the internet by storm every time a new one drops, Yor’s obsession with violence in contrast with her demeanour, and Twilight’s dedication to doing everything just right and putting in as much effort as humanly possible for the sake of his mission, and Anya. The show’s predictability means nothing if the things you can predict are done so wonderfully that you have fun regardless? Are we too bitter to enjoy such a fun, harmless show just because some people have chosen to make it their entire identities?
The latest episode was the perfect showcase for every good quality of the show I described earlier. Anya being afraid to face what she did in the previous episode made a lot of sense for her character and was a very entertaining plot point. Loid’s apparent struggle to be a proper father to Anya was also described wonderfully in some well-written dialogue here, and you believe every word he says when he talks about how has him becoming Anya’s parent has been just as much as a challenge to a super spy as it would be a normal person.

The school environment of Eden is quite boring. Anya isn’t a strong enough character to carry those kinds of scenes by herself right now, and the rest of the students, apart from Damian and Becky, are less significant than a bucket of sand in the desert. This means that every time Anya is on screen, she is somewhat overexposed. Things have been deliberately slowed down as well, leading to even less happening across the span of one episode.
This was a very fun episode, owing most of it to Anya’s reaction shots and Loid’s efforts to make Anya do one thing right. The bond that Loid and Anya share is a unique one- Anya can read minds but can’t tell anyone about it, and Loid doesn’t know that Anya already knows about everything that goes down. Yor also played her part in ending the rift between Anya and Damian, and Anya and Loid. If the school was better actualised and conceived, this was a perfect episode of the show.
Verdict
Spy x Family Episode 7 was a great episode that featured all of our characters getting some time to shine. The future doesn’t look too exciting because it was mostly a nothing episode, but it was fun nonetheless.
