The Boys Presents: Diabolical Review: It’s Gory, Brutal and Killingly Funny!

The Boys Presents: Diabolical is now out on Amazon Prime Video. It’s the spin-off animated live-action series, The Boys. The animated show has 8 episodes of 13 minutes approximately. Every episode is presented in a different animated style. The directorial credits are given to Giancarlo Volpe, Steve Ahn, Crystal Chesney, Derek Lee Thompson, Madeleine Flores, Matthew Bordenave, Jae H. Kim, and Naz Ghodrati-Adazi for various episodes.

The star cast includes Ben Schwartz, Anton Starr, Grey Griffin, Awkwafina, Seth Rogen, Jason Isaacs, Kumail Nanjiani, Elisabeth Shue, Kieran Culkin, Andy Samberg, Aisha Tyler, Don Cheadle, Simon Pegg, Dominique McElligott, and many others. The synopsis reads, “From some of the most unhinged and maniacal minds in Hollywood today comes Diabolical, a collection of eight irreverent and emotionally shocking animated short films.”

The Boys Presents: Diabolical Review Contains No Spoilers

The Boys Presents: Diabolical on Amazon Prime Video has 8 different stories. From Vought and supes obsession to Homelander’s bloody kills, the eight episodes remind us of what defines The Boys. Every episode has an interesting and hilarious title. My favourite episode titles are ‘An Animated Short Where Pissed-Off Supes Kill Their Parents’ and ‘I’m Your Pusher’.

Each episode has an intriguing story packed with extreme brutality, violence and dark humour. I expected the show to be gruesome, but I was startled by how there was blood on screen after every 15 seconds. The stories appear more riveting because of the outstanding and varied animation techniques, voice actors, humour and music.

To not give away any spoilers, I want to keep this review short and crisp. The Boys fandom will definitely enjoy the series. We see a different equation between Homelander and Black Noir in one episode. Antony Starr can terrorise you as Homelander, even in an animated avatar.

The Boys Presents: Diabolical Still

The Boys Presents: Diabolical Review

Overall, leave everything aside and watch the show as it takes brutality and graphic violence to the next level. It seems as if the writers got into the wild more that kept growing with every episode. My favourite ones are episodes 2, 4, 5 and 8.

The show is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
