Disney+ Hotstar’s upcoming film, A Thursday stars Neha Dhupia in an extremely promising and powerful avatar. The MTV Roadies star will be seen as ACP Catherine Alvarez in the film written and directed by Behzad Khambata. The latest thriller has Dhupia in the role of a pregnant cop as the actress was going through her real-life pregnancy during the time of shooting and, was even shooting when she was eight months pregnant, proving to be an inspiration for so many women out there.
A Thursday flaunts an ensemble cast that includes stars Yami Gautam, Atul Kulkarni, Dimple Kapadia, Karanvir Sharma, Maya Sarad, Kalyanee Mulay and Boloram Das in major roles. In an interview with Leisurebyte, Neha Dhupia revealed how it felt working with an ensemble cast, picking up the action-packed role of a cop during her pregnancy and more.
When asked about her experience, Dhupia talked about how it felt fantastic being associated with the film and working with the star cast. The actress revealed being extremely excited to be working alongside Dimple Kapadia saying, “Unfortunately, I did not have too many scenes with her or, didn’t get many shooting days with her. But, I am in the same poster as her and, I love that. I am in the same promo as her and, I love that”. Dhupia also praised Yami Gautam’s performance, who plays the central character in the film.

Filming most of her scenes with Atul Kulkarni, who plays Javed Khan in the film, Dhupia shared how she felt welcomed while sharing her two bits and, feedback with the Rang De Basanti actor, “You imagine someone like him and, especially, people who come from NSD, you know they come with a stamp of excellence. So, it always makes you a little more careful and wary. But, he was very open to suggestions and, very supportive.” However, the best part of filming for A Thursday, Dhupia says was working with director Behzad Khambata, “He is a director who likes less and, can take out more from you as an actor!”
Focusing on her character of ACP Catherine Alvarez, Dhupia mentioned that one of the reasons that got her interested in the role was the fact that her character is a risktaker, someone who prioritizes the call of duty and, plays an important part in giving out a message through this powerful film. “I did not want to pass this role onto anyone else. It is such a great role”, the actress added.
Talking about how her role in Sanak and, how it prepared her for her character in A Thursday, as she plays a Cop both times, Dhupia acknowledged both directors, saying, “Kanishk, who is the director of Sanak and, Behzad are actually very good friends. They are so good with their guns and weapons and knowledge about action and action films. So my biggest thing was apart from being confident, fearless and feisty, to be able to hold a gun correctly and, to move it in and manoeuvre it properly and, look like a cop who knows her job. I had both of the directors handhold me through it and, they both did a great job.”
