How I Met Your Father Episode 3 Review: Are Sophie and Jesse the New Age Ted and Robin?

How I Met Your Father Episode 3 is directed by Kimberly McCullough and written by Dan Levy. The sitcom is created by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger and is the standalone sequel to the fav favourite show from the early 2000s that fans love- How I Met Your Mother (HIMYM). The new gang of the show features Hilary Duff, Christopher Lowell, Francia Raisa, Suraj Sharma, Tom Ainsley, Tien Tran, and Kim Cattrall. The third episode of the show has already premiered, with a runtime of 25 minutes.

How I Met Your Father Episode 3: “The Fixer”

As the title goes, this episode is clearly about people fixing each other with opportunities and new possibilities. In the last two episodes, we saw Sophie, Valentina, Jesse, Charlie, Sid and Ellen quickly becoming friends and hanging out together. The friendship goes deeper in How I Met Your Father Episode 3 and that too in three segments!

First off, we have Valentina and Sid, who did not seem like would make the perfect duo but, they do! Hannah and Sid being in a long-distance relationship try to spice things up with sex toys. Weirdly enough, which Valentina has the perfect Ted Talk about! But, does it work? Or, Sid and Hannah are still in the block? Well, one thing is sure, this friendship block is uncanny yet feels good.

Next up is Jesse and Sophie! Well, the million-dollar question is are the makers trying to pull off a Robin-Ted relationship with this duo, where maybe by the end both end up together without a divorce or death? Because it sure looks like it. The episode focuses on Sophie trying to help Jesse get the perfect profile picture for Tinder and, then be his wing-woman to a bar where he could meet with a potentially interesting date and, it ends with them travelling home together. It surely gave the audience all the blue-horn vibes.

The favourite and, funny (thank god!) part of this reboot are Ellen and Charlie, awkward outsiders in New York, who make it their screentime worth a while. We see both of them apartment hunting. But, the option of being roommates? Well, that is for the audience to find out. However, it would surely be a delight to see how that arrangement works out between the duo!

How I Met Your Father Episode 3: Final Thoughts

How I Met Your Father Episode 3 does nothing to elevate the show’s quality. It still feels like the essence of HIMYM is missing, which makes it unbearable sad as it is apparent that the heartfelt moments (like, Sophie talking about her childhood and Sid-Hannah’s relationship) feel real and valued. The humour is still missing (well, maybe expect the unboxing video part at the end) and, there has been nothing legendary to call this reboot a success yet.

As fans, we hope the series gets better in the upcoming episode and, we see some more depth in the characters. Meanwhile, if you want, you can watch How I Met Your Father Episode 3 now on Hulu. Each episode will get a weekly release. You can catch on Hulu on Tuesdays and, on the streaming platform Disney+ Hotstar on Wednesdays.
