Many couples want their wedding to be the best and memorable for themselves and their guests. Some of them go out of their way to make it perfect. We see happy faces, cheers and love all over. Netflix’s The Wedding Coach, starring comedian Jamie Lee, shows us what it takes for the bride and the groom to make that day happen. So how’s the series? Keep reading.
Jamie Lee starts the episode by telling us how worn out she and her husband were while planning their wedding. While the wedding almost happened the way they wanted to, the planning days felt loveless between them. That’s why she decided to write a book and then do a show as well where they can help couples in a predicament about planning their wedding.
The Wedding Coach has six different episodes featuring six couples. Every couple has a lot of going while planning their wedding. When things go out of their hands, they contact Jamie to save their day and make their wedding happen. From family troubles to bridesmaid issues, there’s all kind of dramas.

In the first episode, Erin and Travis are very close to having a meltdown while planning their big day. Despite doing everything, they still don’t feel it’s enough. When Jamie Lee steps in, they tell her how they almost want to kill each other. The couple even thinks of eloping because the preparation feels exhausting. That’s when Lee tells them that the day should be more about themselves instead of thinking about how to entertain the guests and if everyone will be happy or not.
From communication crisis to cultural differences, The Wedding Coach shows us everything that can create an issue for a couple. There’s also an episode in which a couple calls about their wedding because planning for their big day almost makes them lose the love and connection between them. But it’s nothing to be worried about. As Lee says, it is totally normal to want to call off the wedding!
The Wedding Coach is here to bust many myths about the ‘beauty of wedding’. It may seem like a cakewalk, but only the bride and groom who have to walk down the aisle know it’s a tiresome journey that can give them sleepless nights and anxiety. It’s a living nightmare. Jamie Lee also talks about how the Instagram culture and wedding industry made people believe that having a grand ceremony with expensive lights and fancy decoration is a must! But that’s not true.

Except for some lame jokes, The Wedding Coach is fun to watch. As an Indian, where big fat weddings are considered the ideal ones, I am happy that such a show is out on Netflix. I wish more and more Indians watch it to understand that a wedding is all about the bride and the groom and their love and not about the pricey food, gold jewellery, the huge mandap, and pleasing those 1000 guests. People will always have something to complain about even if you spend all your life earnings.
The Wedding Coach: Is it worth it?
Overall, I enjoyed watching The Wedding Coach. It helps you understand that being with your partner and saving the relationship and money is more important and spending on unnecessary things and pleasing the guests. If someone is planning to get married and is worried about how they will manage to do it amid the pandemic, you should definitely watch this show. It is here to tell everything that sometimes minimal is the best!
