The Undoing episode 3 recap

The Undoing episode 3 starts off right after Grace calls the police on her husband. He’s arrested, and the rest of the episode is about the family coming to terms with Jonathan’s transgressions. A lot of the episode follows Jonathan inside the prison, him trying to make Grace believe in his innocence, and the toll that Jonathan’s acts have on Henry and Grace.

Surprisingly, Grace seems to have taken a full U-turn when it comes to her feelings about Jonathan’s crime. Sure, he’s a cheater, but Grace seems to be of the opinion that he couldn’t have done what the police are saying. Although Jonathan’s friend at the hospital reveals some very difficult things about his behaviour with his patients, and even goes to the extent of saying that he might be a psychopath, Grace feels otherwise.

Thus, Grace, armed with new resilience about Jonathan being innocent of murder, goes out of her way to prove that it was Elena who came on to her husband – mirroring Jonathan’s words. In this regard she has a spat with Fernando and says some choice words about his dead wife. I don’t know where she is getting the confidence from, and although I really don’t want to believe Hugh Grant to be capable of murder, I am kinda not feeling it for Jonathan.

The Undoing episode 3 has some really fun characters at the helm, with people not giving one sh*t about what they say about Jonathan, especially his public defender. He tells Grace that Jonathan is a di*k, and I have to agree. The more Grace starts believing her husband, the more you just sit there bewildered wondering why she would go down that path. But hey, love makes you do weird things.

However, the whammy that The Undoing episode 3 delivers at the end makes you doubt everything that you’ve seen for so long and makes you wonder if everything is okay with our principle character. You cannot help but doubt everyone here, and that’s probably what the show was going for. There’s just too much going on, too many inconsistencies that don’t add up. Is this the missing piece that will tie everything together? I think the next episode might be able to shed some light on that.

The Undoing episode 3 is streaming on HBO Max and Disney+ Hotstar.
