Keeping in mind the different kinds of stalkers that walk this planet, here are 6 stalker movies that will make you aware of your surroundings and perhaps make you doubt your beloved plumber. Yes, he is a great guy who comes to your aide whenever you call him, but how? How is he available every time you call him? Is he waiting for your calls? Or is he the one tampering with your pipeline only to make you call him again and again? Think again.
The stalker genre of movies has a huge fan base. However, it’s not easy to pull off a stalker movie that pleases the audience. The fear results from a human, and there are only so many ways to make a human seem creepy without turning him/her/them into something inhuman. Through the years, directors have explored lensing using different perspectives, and in this list, we will give you 8 different kinds of stalker movies to watch and freak out.
8 Stalker Movies That You Should Watch
Unhinged (2020)
Unhinged, directed by Derrick Borte, proved that Academy-Award-winning actor Russel Crowe can be scary too. Some might not have liked the movie that much, but I found it effective. The road-rage thriller shows Crowe’s The Man going all-in on single mom Rachel (Caren Pistorius) after she keeps on honking at his pickup truck that isn’t moving despite having the green signal. The different states of shock and panic that follow as a result of what Crowe does to the mother-son duo certainly make the movie an effective stalker thriller.
The Cable Guy (1996)
There isn’t any role Jim Carrey cannot pull off. And The Cable Guy is another of his gems. The funny yet creepy cable guy, Chip Douglas, begins tormenting Steven (Matthew Broderick) after arriving for his cable service. No less than a maniac, Carrey manages to get on our nerves with his irritating character, who wants to be Steven’s friend in an all-encompassing manner. The result is hilarious at the surface level, but what if someone like Chip knocks on your door? The Cable Guy is directed by Ben Stiller.
The Strangers (2008)
Okay, masks are for festivals, not when you are visiting someone’s house. And what makes The Strangers scary is the possibility that it can happen to practically anyone anywhere at home. When a couple, James and Kristen, decide to spend some together at a summer home, three masked people force their way inside the house and begin wreaking havoc and violence. Why are they doing this? Because the couple is at home. It is the masks that add personas to the secrets that each of the persons carries within, and they aren’t pleasant. The movie is written and directed by Bryan Bertino.
One Hour Photo (2002)
One of the best stalker flicks ever, in my opinion, One Hour Photo stars the legendary Robin Williams as Seymour “Sy” Parrish, who runs a one-hour photo lab. The Yorkin family are his favourite customers whose photos he also keeps with himself. However, when Sy finds Will Yorkin being unfaithful to his wife, his unhinged mind steps to the other side. This movie only reminds me of what we address as stalking on social media today. While Sy washed photographs of the Yorkins from which he knew all about them, today, there are social media profiles. Watch it; you won’t regret it.

The Invisible Man (2020)
It is one thing to find out why a stalker is stalking you, but what if you can’t see your stalker and yet you are sure that the person is stalking you? Read that again. The Invisible Man, directed by Leigh Whannell, is as much a horror movie as it is a stalker one involving the suicide of Cecilia’s abusive husband, after which she begins having life-threatening experiences. She believes that her husband is still alive. Is he? This film is a piece of stalker work, no doubt.
Darr (1993)
Before Shah Rukh Khan got the title of the world’s biggest movie star, he did Darr. A Bollywood movie, many consider it to be a musical as well. However, Shah Rukh Khan garnered huge praise for his role as Rahul, who is obsessed with Kiran (Juhi Chawla) and will have her by any means necessary. If you want to watch a stalker musical, I believe this movie is the only one of the kind. It is directed by Yash Chopra.
Rehna Hai Tere Dil Mein (2001)
Indian millennials, now in their late 20s or early 30s, still go bonkers when they hear the score of this Bollywood romantic flick. Featuring R. Madhavan as Rajeev and Dia Mirza as Reena, this Gautham Vasudev Menon directorial quietly passes off as a stalker using the cloak of wooing. If you have seen it, see it again from the perspective we are talking about, and you will get it.

Fan (2016)
Fan, directed by Maneesh Sharma, is another Bollywood stalker movie starring Shah Rukh Khan, wherein he plays a double role. He is both superstar Aryan Khanna and the star’s obsessive fan Gaurav who does something that makes Aryan declare that Gaurav isn’t his fan. Gaurav thus vows revenge and goes to unimaginable lengths to have it.
