We have curated some of the best rebellious and strong mom movies that you can’t miss out on watching. Check it out below.

8 Best Movies About Mothers

Jalsa

While the movie’s name sounds completely detached from the actual theme of the movie, one can’t skip it due to the intense acting of Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah. After an 18-year-old girl encounters a hit and run, a journalist, a mother, and cops tie their ropes to find the truth. What happens, in the end, would blow your mind. Though Jalsa is inspired by the Malayalam movie Kannekkane, the direction is unique and brilliant.

Breaking In

Badass mothers? Then Gabrielle Union is renowned for that. Starring as Shaun Russell, Union acts brilliantly as a mother who can fight and traumatise those who try to destroy her. When Shaun and her kids visit her late father’s house, a burglar gang takes them hostage. Little do they know that they’ll have to face Shaun’s hard fight.

Amma Kanakku

Amma Kanakku starring Amala Paul, is one of her acting career’s breakthrough. A widowed mother works as a maid to pay for her daughter’s education. However, she is often belittled. Hence she joins school along with her daughter to study, bond with her daughter, work as a maid and take care of her child simultaneously. An excellent plot, I would say.

Bird Box

Can we ever forget the hype this movie got that almost every TikTok video had people blindfolding themselves and walking around? Nevertheless, the movie deserved the boast. Sandra Bullock really performed too well, and her willpower to save her kids made the movie, even more worthier to watch.

Enough

Jennifer Lopez works as a waitress and awaits a change in her life. Just then, she falls in love and marries the man of her dreams. While her marriage life goes splendidly, it is when a daughter arrives she realises her husband’s terrible dark side. All she now bothers about is saving her daughter from the madman. Her action scenes in this movie is a game-changer.

The Mother

Jennifer Lopez probably figured she’d rock a role where she is both a mother and fighter because, in the recent Netflix film The Mother, JLo comes back with a similar frondeur performance. She is an assassin and a mother, how far will she go to protect her daughter?

Hidden Figures

Truth be told, one mother is super powerful, but what if there’s a movie with three such women? Yes! If you’re looking to watch a movie about super strong moms, then Hidden Figures starring Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, and Janelle Monáe as mathematicians who play an important field in the field of space, is a must-watch. They’re also mothers, let’s get that straight.

Room

Back in 2015, when this movie came out with Brie Larson starring in the lead role, everybody’s hearts were ripped out, thanks to her phenomenal acting. The movie narrates the real-life story of a young boy and his mother kidnapped by a man. The mother tries to make her son feel that the room they’re trapped in is a world he can live in so that it won’t emotionally damage him. She, on the other hand, fights to get out of the place for her son’s sake.
