Flower of Evil is a gift that keeps on giving; it’s a twisted tale of identity, love and deception that gets more complex the deeper you get into it. Following Baek Hee-sung, played wonderfully by Lee Joon-gi, the series showcases a perfect husband whose personal life goes up in flames when his past comes back to haunt him. As his wife suspects him of being a murderer, things unravel in a way that is drenched in emotional vulnerability and psychological tension.

Both these dramas focus on characters who toe the line between justice and criminality. The romance feels like a natural, organic part of the tale instead of being just another addition for the sake of it and adds a layer of tension to an already shocking situation. Both these dramas humanise their characters beautifully, despite the questionable actions that they all engage in!

This critically acclaimed K-drama, starring Cho Seung-woo and Bae Doona, is like an onion being peeled, with each layer more disturbing than the previous one. The plot focuses on a stoic prosecutor and a detective who, while investigating a murder, realise the depths to which corruption exists in their justice system as they face one roadblock after another. The series has 2 seasons, and both are equally fantastic.

Although the series doesn’t feature a ton of romance, it showcases an intricately plotted crime narrative along with morally grey protagonists who will leave you hooked to their character arcs. The emotional restraint and gradual character building feel extremely intimate and well-done. It provides a subtle commentary on justice and is a natural next watch after Good Boy!

This lesser-known drama focuses on a young woman who is given the choice to redo parts of her life when she is given the opportunity to go back in time and make different choices. The drama might sound like a hopeful and healing journey of a woman coming to terms with her choices, but it soon turns dark as secrets are exposed and crime seeps into her seemingly ordinary surroundings. The series explores themes surrounding romance, regret and redemption that blend together seamlessly.

The drama uses personal trauma as a catalyst for suspense and crime investigation. The emotional tension is only heightened by the romantic subplot and, once again, feels organic and subtle. With only 5 episodes to binge and a fantastic cast that keeps things refreshing and moving, the drama is a must-watch.

This much-loved psychological thriller is an obvious choice in this list. With stunning performances by Shin Ha-kyun and Yeo Jin-goo, Beyond Evil follows two conflicting police officers who are forced to work together in a serial murder case. As the case unfolds, both men are forced to confront their own secrets and realise the ties the present case has with a 20-year-old case. The show blurs the line between good and evil, and you are left to question whether justice truly ever prevails.

The series explores what happens when institutions that are meant to protect us fail. It feels heartbreaking and claustrophobic, and the revelations will leave you dizzy! The drama probes into questions surrounding vengeance, morality and whether the ends truly justify the means. The slow-burning emotional intensity between the leads, although not romantic, adds another layer of thrill, just like the layered relationships in Good Boy.
