5 Hindi Movies With Male-Female Friendship Goals

With Friendship Day 2023 knocking on the door, here we bring you 5 Hindi movies with male-female friendships that will win you over any day. In the Bollywood timeframe, Hindi movies have explored love stories from innumerable angles. One can easily say that it is only recently that Bollywood has discovered just how interesting girl-boy friendships can really be.

The notorious and, frankly speaking, the very cheap line “ek ladka aur ak ladki kabhi dost nahi ban sakte” has been done away with. And the movies in this list prove it big time. Today, friendships in Bollywood movies have become commonplace and needless to say, they help make the stories more colloquial. So without any delay, let’s begin.

5 Hindi Movies With Male-Female Friendship Goals

Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

Perhaps the most iconic of all Bollywood platonic friendships is that of Rahul and Anjali in Kuch Kuch Kota Hai. Starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, the movie showcases their chemistry in such a way that whenever we see the two of them together in any reality show or any event on television now, so many years later, they still remind us of Rahul and Anjali. Be it playing basketball or fighting with each other, they imbibe the fact that “pyaar dosti hai.”

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani did for Gen Z what Kuch Kuch Kota Hai did for the millennials. The friendship between Ranbir Kapoor’s Bunny and Kalki Koechlin’s Aditi carries a sweetness that is exclusive of time and yet it moves ahead parallel with maturity as the story progresses. Aditi’s message to Bunny inviting him to her wedding is crystal clear in our hearts, isn’t it? We grew up so quickly. It’s been 10 years since the movie was released. This one is a must-have for any list of Hindi movies with male-female friendship.

Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na

Another beautiful movie starring Imran Khan (Jai) and Genelia D’Souza (Aditi) wherein we get another strong bond of friendship. No, not between the leads but between Jiggy (played by Nirav Mehta) and Shaleen (played by Sugandha Garg). The chemistry is as palpable as it gets and both of them pull it off in a most natural manner. Watch it, if you haven’t already, and you’ll know what I mean. Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na has been directed by Abbas Tyrewala.

Wake Up Sid

Another Ayan Mukerji directorial, Wake Up Sid takes male-female friendship up a notch by showing how Konkona Sen Sharma’s Aisha “teaches” a spoiled brat Siddharth to take up responsibility and behave like a man his age in the fast-paced city of Mumbai. In this way, she “wakes” him up. Both Konkona and Ranbir have done a fabulous job in their respective roles. If you are planning to watch one movie from this list, go for this one although I suggest that you watch all of these. Just start with this one.

Queen

Queen, starring Kangana Ranaut, is the only name that comes to my mind that proves that Male-Female Friendships transcend international waters. When Rani (Kangana) decides to go to Paris and Amsterdam for her honeymoon all alone after her fiancé ditches their wedding, she finds herself completely lost. But that’s only until she meets Taka from Japan, Tim from France, and Oleksander from Russia; three guys with whom she becomes the best of friends, enjoying her stay.

Her time with the guys makes her realize how she needs to take control of the way in which her life is headed. And the amount of fun she had with the three guys is a celebration of friendship itself. The movie has been directed by Vikas Bahl.
