After a long wait, Made in Heaven Season 2 trailer has finally been released. Following the critical acclaim and appreciation from the audience for its first season in 2019, the Amazon Prime Video show is returning after a massive wait of four years. The lead cast of the show including Sobhita Dhulipala, Arjun Mathur, Jim Sarbh, Kalki Koechlin, Shashank Arora, Shivani Raghuvanshi and Vijay Raaz are seen reprising their roles. It is evident that with the new season, creators Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti will once again delve deeper into the extravagant world of Indian weddings and the societal norms attached to them.
After the announcement of the release date for Made in Heaven Season 2 was made, character posters for the lead cast were also released which gave fans a tiny glimpse of what they can expect from their favourite characters. As for the trailer, as expected, it packs a punch while showcasing impressive moments of sharp writing and impeccable performances. Sobhita Dhulipala and Arjun Mathur return as the wedding planner duo dealing with a new set of clients. The show also gives us a further peek into the two protagonists’ personal lives.
As the new season delivers fresh stories from the Indian wedding circuit, actresses such as Mrunal Thakur, Radhika Apte, Shibani Dandekar, Zain Marie Khan, Sarah Jane-Dias, Kallirroi Tziafeta, Naina Sareen, Elnaaz Norouzi, and Sheena Khalid are seen in the bridal avatars. The second season also has an impressive directors list as Alankrita Shrivastava, Neeraj Ghaywan, Nitya Mehra, Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar helm the stories.
From a Mughal-themed wedding to a nosy new auditor played by Mona Singh at Tara (Sobhita Dhulipala) and Karan’s (Arjun Mathur) wedding planning firm, there’s a lot of chaos expected to let loose in the new season. While the extravagant wedding decor and venues return to make our eyes gleam, there are also some big emotional moments that take place as well. Tara’s divorce is expected to create some major ripples. The twisted equation between Jim Sarbh, Kalki Koechlin and Sobhita’s character certainly seems more complicated than before.
The trailer also showcases glimpses of the new cast joining this season including cameos from an exuberant Sanjay Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Neelam Kothari and more. There’s also a hint about an LGBTQ+ storyline involving Shibani Dandekar’s character in the show. All in all there’s a lot to unpack in the second season as it will see both the leads, Tara and Arjun in vulnerable spaces as they tackle the challenges from their personal lives while trying to give their clients the happy ending.
The production design once again looks top notch and it’s clear that Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti’s have the eye for capturing the Indian wedding industry and its overindulgence perfectly. The expectations from the new season have already been high given how fans have eagerly waited for it and as of now, the trailer certainly suggests it will be a promising watch.
