5 Chris Pratt Movies: Chris Pratt has somehow managed to become the actor who leads a bunch of space misfits, who runs around with dinos, and the voice behind some of animation’s most recognisable characters.
Depending on your palette of watching, you might have met a completely different version of Pratt first. The actor has now found himself attached to a project that might not have been on anyone’s Chris Pratt bingo card. The Hollywood actor reportedly comes together with Pope Leo XIV for a documentary around the tomb of St. Peter at the Vatican. It is a rather different screen assignment for an actor whom audiences have spent years associating with sci-fi, superheroes, dinosaurs, and the chaos of the blockbuster.
5 Chris Pratt Movies
If the news has pushed you into a rabbit hole with “Chris Pratt” on it, we have five films worth revisiting. Not every film on this list might be a masterpiece of cinema, but just a familiar part of the movie-watching experience.
Guardians of the Galaxy
Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, in the 2014 film is perhaps the role that established Chris Pratt as a blockbuster leading man. Peter Quill does not seem like an effortlessly cool hero but a rather immature, emotionally messy, sometimes selfish and deeply attached to music and memories he carries from Earth. Pratt knows when to let the ridiculousness take over and when to let the loneliness be put forward.
The film’s humour, soundtrack and the relationship between the characters are all reasons to revisit it, and the film is still worth watching if your main aim is hearing Come and Get Your Love while pretending you are about to make a dramatic entrance.
The Lego Movie
In The Lego Movie, Chris Pratt voices Emmet Brickowski, the main character. Pratt’s voice performance is a huge part of the success of the character itself. He gives Emmet an earnestness that could have become irritating otherwise in a less thought-out film. The character’s enthusiasm, confusion and desire to be liked become endearing.
There is also an emotional idea that centres the colourful animated adventure, and the film manages to explore that without turning the character into a different person. If you have missed this one assuming it was for children, please reconsider.
Jurassic World
In Jurassic World, Chris Pratt plays Owen Grady. The real attraction, of course, is the dinosaur spectacle; but Owen is a very different kind of Pratt character from Peter Quill. He is controlled and considerably less interested in making jokes at the worst possible moment. Pratt, however, brings a certain charm to the role, not letting Owen become another action hero who only happens to look good while running away from things.
Moneyball
Before the leading-man status, there was Moneyball, and if you are interested in watching Pratt in a film that is rather different from the roles most people associate him with today, this can be a good starting point.
Chris Pratt plays Scott Hatteberg, a former catcher who is recruited to play first base despite having to adjust to an unfamiliar position. It is not the kind of performance in which Pratt is required to carry the entire film on his shoulders. He is a part of the larger story about players trying to prove their worth in a system that has already decided what they are capable of. This makes the role worth revisiting, as Moneyball offers a reminder of the supporting performances that helped build his filmography before Hollywood began offering him massive roles.
Onward
Pixar’s Onward takes place in a fantasy world where magic begins being replaced by modern inconveniences. Chris Pratt voices Barley Lightfoot, alongside Tom Holland, who voices Ian Lightfoot. Pratt gives Barley a wonderfully energetic voice performance, but he also makes room for the character’s vulnerability. His enthusiasm is not simply there to provide comic relief but becomes a part of how he processes loss and connects with his brother while trying to make sense of a world that has changed around him.
The film is particularly effective when it stops treating the brothers’ journey as a race against time and lets the relationship become the actual story.
Chris Pratt’s Next Chapter
The announcement around Pétros Ení — Discovering the Origins is a reminder that an actor’s career can contain some unexpected turns. The documentary is not a conventional Chris Pratt blockbuster, but focuses on the history beneath St. Peter’s Basilica. The documentary is reportedly scheduled for a February 2027 release, allowing viewers to see Pratt in a different context.
For now, these five films offer a rather decent tour of what he has done on screen, and perhaps that is the interesting part about revisiting an actor’s filmography. You do not have to necessarily pick a favourite or decide a particular role as the defining character.
Just watching a few films and realising how many different characters have become part of your own memories is sometimes enough!
