After a successful kick off on the first day of the MAMA celebrations at the Tokyo Dome in Japan, it’s now time to go over the 2023 MAMA Awards Day 2 winners list. Following Jeon Somi’s example, Park Bo-gum took the reins of the ceremony from her as the Day 2 host, much like last year’s event schedule. Organised by CJ ENM, both days of the auspicious annual gathering celebrated Asian artists’ musical contributions for this year, and saw many illustrious and deserving musicians taking home big trophies.
BTS bagged the first Daesang (Grand Prize) on November 28 by clinching the Worldwide Icon of the Year award for the sixth consecutive year, but the remaining three grand prize titles – Song of the Year, Artist of the Year and Album of the Year were left out for the second day’s announcements.
Among other categories awarded on the first day, the Worldwide Fans Choice trophies were conferred upon ten artists/groups from the K-pop sphere. These names were, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, BTS, ZEROBASEONE, ENHYPEN, Lim Young-woong, ATEEZ, NCT DREAM, Stray Kids, SEVENTEEN, TWICE. Thereafter, concluding with BTS being proclaimed the Worldwide Icon of the Year, the show left the audience wondering as to who all would be declared victorious for the remaining three Daesangs. Chapter 2 of MAMA Awards 2023 commenced with the red carpet at 4 PM KST, and subsequently the awards ceremony followed at 6 PM KST on November 28, 2023. Both events were live-streamed worldwide via Mnet and KCON’s YouTube channels.
