Reborn Rich

Reborn Rich (재벌집 막내아들) is Joong ki’s one of the latest roles that won us over entirely and even became the second highest-rated drama in Korean cable television history. Adapted from the web novel of the same name by San Gyung, and follows Yoon Hyun-woo (Song Joong-ki) a devoted, hard-working, and loyal secretary to the Jin family, which runs the lucrative Sunyang Group business empire. But one day, he is ruthlessly betrayed by the family, who frames him for embezzlement.

He dies shortly after – but is miraculously brought “back to life” when he wakes up inside the body of the youngest male member of the family, Jin Do-jun. After he realizes what has happened, he decides to take revenge. He hatches a plan to overthrow Jin Yang-chul (Lee Sung-min), the cold-blooded and money-hungry CEO of Sunyang Group. The drama series is available for streaming on Viki.

A Frozen Flower

This period film actually marks the actor’s acting debut. Although he played a minor role of No Tak, the youngest of 36 ‘flower boys’ cast as soldiers stationed under Hong Rim. Barely having any lines, Joong ki actually asked the director if he could have some more lines as he wanted to show his skills and determination to do better. And reasonably so, he was recognised by this small role for his upcoming projects.

Also starring known stars like Zo In-sung and Song Ji-Hyo, the story focuses on the Yuan Kingdom, the King of Goryeo (Joo Jin-Mo) is pressured to produce a successor to the throne, but the king is in love with his loyal general Hong-Lim (Zo In-Sung). The King then asks his lover Hong-Lim to sleep with the Queen (Song Ji-Hyo), with unexpected consequences. Watch this film on Viki.

Vincenzo

He is a force to be reckoned with as the dangerous mafia lawyer Vincenzo Cassano in this action drama. At the age of 8, Park Joo-Hyeong went to Italy after he was adopted. He then becomes a lawyer, who works for the Mafia as a consigliere. Because of a war between mafia groups, he flees to South Korea. There he gets involved with Lawyer Hong Cha-Young (Jeon Yeo-bin), and he falls in love; also achieves social justice in his own way.

Arthdal Chronicles

Starring in a double role in this Ancients fantasy action drama, the story follows in a mythical land called Arth, the inhabitants of the ancient city of Arthdal and its surrounding regions vie for power as they build a new society. Joong Ki portrayed the dual role of Eun Seom and Saya, the main leads and identical twins.

Penny Pinchers

If you like to see the actor in some funny and light roles, then this film is definitely for you. Plays the role of an unemployed Ji Woong (Song Joong Ki) who may lack ambition, but that doesn’t stop him from living large—on his mother’s dime.

Meanwhile, his frugal neighbour Hong Sil (Han Ye Seul) will do anything to make a few dollars. But when their low-income apartment complex suddenly becomes a candidate for trendy redevelopment, both Ji Woong and Hong Sil face the possibility of losing their homes. Descendants of the Sun

Even if you haven’t watched many Korean dramas, you might still be aware of this one due to its global popularity. When we talk about the peak start of Kdramas being recognised all over the globe, Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo starrer definitely comes to the top. In this drama, after a chance meeting in a hospital, an ardent soldier falls for a gifted surgeon. Opposing philosophies tear them apart, but fate has other plans as both meets again in the field of their work.

Space Sweepers

In this galactic blockbuster, Tae-Ho (Joong ki) is a pilot of Spaceship Victory, which is led by a captain (Kim Tae-ri). Tae-Ho will do anything to make money, but he is always broke. Along with Tiger Park (Jin Sun-Kyu) and a robot (Yu Hae-Jin) the other crew members of the spaceship. The four misfits chase after space debris and faraway dreams in the year 2092.

The Innocent Man

The drama follows Kang Maru and Han Jaehui, who have chased their dreams, relying on each other despite their poor existence. Maru is a college student who’s always been at the top of his class and Jaehui dreams of being an anchor that can help her escape his garbage life, so she works as an anchor at the HBS broadcast station.

Seo Eungi has been bred to be the heir of a major conglomerate but is devoid of warmth. The moment they all take steps closer and closer to their dreams. A desperate call from Jaehui to Ma-ru. After that day, their lives change in an unexpected way.

In this dark melodrama, Joong ki changes gears from being a nice guy to turning to the dark side and crafting revenge from the one he once loved. This also marks his first lead role in a drama. Watch this series in Viki.

A Werewolf Boy

In this critically acclaimed fantasy romance drama, following Soon Yi (Park Bo Young) who in hopes that fresh air will cure her chronic lung ailment, is suddenly shuttled to the countryside, where she quickly discovers there’s a lot to adjust to their new house and surroundings — namely, a wild boy named Chul Soo (Song Joong Ki) who lives in the barn. Though initially believed to simply be an orphan lacking social skills, Chul Soo begins to develop feelings for her, while his feral side looms in the background.

Sungkyunkwan Scandal

He may have debuted with A Frozen Flower, but many remember him from this drama where he plays the role of a mischievous upperclassman Gu Yong-ha. Set in a period where society does not allow females to be educated nor employed, Kim Yoon-hee (Park Min-young) disguises herself as her brother, Kim Yoon-shik, in order to make ends meet for her family. There she has to put up with different classmates while trying to keep up her secret.
