Filming for Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies Officially Begins, Deets Inside!

The making of The Archies movie has been in talks for a while now. This upcoming Netflix-Zoya Akhtar collaboration is going to be a coming of age story that will inflict all the nostalgia of the original comics from the past into the present Riverdale generation of India. Reimagining the storyline for Indian audiences, the feature film is going to take the iconic Archie Andrews and his friends around India! This Indian adaptation is going to be produced by Tiger Baby and Graphic India.

To come out exclusively on Netflix, the live-action musical is going to be set in the 1960s India, where our iconic characters will take on new mysteries and adventures all mixed with friendship, love and courage at its core. Although the makers have not announced the official cast for the film, it said to mark the debut of some big celebrity children in the industry including Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan, Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda and Boney Kapoor and late Sridevi’s daughter, Khushi Kapoor.

A few weeks ago all three- Suhana, Khushi, and Agastya were spotted on the film’s set as they were giving their look test for the project. Meanwhile, Reema Kagti is co-producing The Archies and this is yet another time the duo is of Kagti and Akhtar coming together to work on a Netflix project. The latest title the duo worked on together is Eternally Confused and Eager for Love, a comedy series that is presently streaming on Netflix.
