Zero Day Ending Explained
As George Mullen’s investigation reaches a new point after he finds the clues left behind by Roger, he is once again on a deadline as President Mitchell tells him that Speaker Dreyer will be taking over his position the next day. The rush of the moment brings him and his team closer to the truth, but it isn’t something he is ready for.
Meanwhile, Alex Mullen has something to reveal to George and is on her way back home. However, a power cut-out in the city leaves everyone in darkness and the Mullen couple in danger as the protestors outside their house take this chance to attack them.

Does the Mullen Couple Escape?
Facing the power cut, George and his wife Sheila are told to leave the house as they do not know how the protestors could attack them. However, despite the security and arrangements, the protestors manage to get to the Mullen’s car and begin attacking the couple. While the couple sits back in fear, the protestors continue to attack the car.
Right then, gunshots are heard which scare the protestors away and from the dark emerges CIA Director Lasch. He surprises George by giving his help, but he soon explains to him what has really been going on behind his back. He tells him that there are those in the Government among the higher-ups who are involved in this case which is why Mullen wasn’t told the real truth of his mission.

What Did Alex Mullen Have to Reveal?
As George and Sheila Mullen escape, George finds out that his daughter is somehow involved in everything. He then arrives at Alex’s apartment where she finally confesses everything about the cyberattack. She tells him that it was Speaker Dreyer who told her things that made her want to join him in this. While she didn’t expect the situation to end up killing so many, she did it thinking that it was for a greater cause.
What Does George Mullen Do After Finding Out the Truth?
Upon finding out the truth from his daughter, Mullen easily finds evidence that is needed. He first confronts Dreyer and sees his face with no remorse as he believes that what he did was right. When Mullen tells him that he will reveal the truth to the world, Dreyer tells him that he needs to be ready to give up on his daughter as well for she is also part of this conspiracy. Caught in between his sense of duty and his daughter, Mullen has a hard time.

However, his wife tells him that he needs to save their daughter and pin all the blame on Kiddler and Lyndon because she is not ready to lose another child. Others also push Mullen to make the same choice and he accepts defeat despite the evidence that he holds. But on the day when he is to conclude the investigations in front of the country, he is given a letter from his daughter.
This changes Mullen’s statement and he reveals everything to the world. He not only delivers the truth about Dreyer, his daughter, and everyone else involved in the conspiracy, but he also hopes for justice to be done to all. With this, he once again faces another turmoil in his family but his credibility is proven in front of everyone.
