Youngbok Sachiko: Kang Mi-na Reportedly Cast as Lead in KBS Drama Special 2024

Rising star Kang Mi-na has been reportedly cast as the female lead in the upcoming KBS Drama Special 2024, Youngbok Sachiko. The drama (드라마 스페셜 – 영복, 사치코), set in the turbulent period leading up to the Korean War, promises to be a gripping tale of love, loss, and survival. Mi-na will take on the role of Yeongbok, a determined wife on a desperate quest to find her missing husband near the 38th parallel, the border that would later divide the Korean Peninsula.

Mi-na, who has been gaining significant attention for her recent role in the popular series Welcome to Samdal-ri, continues to impress audiences with her versatility and depth. Her previous work includes performances in Midnight Horror: Six Nights, Café Minamdang, and Moonshine, each showcasing her ability to tackle a wide range of characters. In this drama, she will face her most challenging role yet, navigating the complexities of a character caught in the chaos of a nation on the brink of war.

The drama will also feature Choi Ri and Ha Jun, adding further depth to the already promising cast. Ri, known for her roles in My First First Love and Birthcare Center, will bring her own unique energy to the project, while Jun, who has previously starred in Crazy Romance and Missing: The Other Side, is set to deliver another compelling performance. Together, they will help bring this poignant story to life, capturing the emotional turmoil of the era.

Kang Mi-na To Star In Youngbok Sachiko

The KBS Drama Special series is well-regarded for its ability to tackle difficult and often overlooked topics within South Korea’s historical and cultural context. Youngbok Sachiko is expected to continue this tradition, offering viewers a powerful narrative set against the backdrop of one of the most pivotal moments in Korean history.

With its scheduled release in the second half of 2024, anticipation for Youngbok Sachiko is already building.
