Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein Review

The episode begins with a terrified Vikrant inside an abandoned house with multiple men attempting to shoot him. He looks like he’s been through hell. Vikrant narrates the story that ruined his life forever. The people who did this are politician Akheraj Awasthi (Saurabh Shukla), his henchman Dharmesh (Surya Sharma) and his daughter Purva. Vikrant’s father works for Akheraj as an accountant and treats him like a god. The ruthless politician’s daughter Purva was obsessed with Vikrant. He was aware of Purva’s obsession since childhood and always maintained distance.

Vikrant loves Shikha and wants to marry her. But he’s looking for a good engineering job before he can take the big step. Vikrant’s father wants his son to work for Akheraj. Every situation brings Vikrant closer to the Awasthi family. When Purva enters the picture, his life is turned completely upside down. Things spiral out of control, and Vikrant is forced to make decisions and turn into a person he never imagined! Vikrant must figure out a way to save himself from Purva and her vicious family. Will he and Shikha get their happy ending together? You will have to watch the series till the end.

It has been a long time since we got a Hindi romantic thriller with a love triangle that’s well-made. The writers of Netflix India’s Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein waste no time establishing the storyline. You can see how happy Vikrant and Shikha are when the flashback sequence begins. The creators have labelled it a “pulpy thriller,” which is a pretty accurate description. The show includes a great balance of drama, tension, entertainment, and crooked characters.

Whether it’s scenes featuring Vikrant and his family or Vikrant and Shikha, you’re invested in seeing how he gets wrecked. You stay to learn what happened to the middle-class boy with modest ambitions who only desired to spend his life with his lover. Every episode immerses the viewer more and more in the characters and their lives.  Everything is presented enjoyably, whether it is Vikrant’s blood-soaked imagination or the panic caused by Akheraj and Purva. Every episode is suspenseful enough to make you want to click the next one. The soundtrack by Shivam Sengupta and Anuj Danait also enhances the entire thriller.

Tahir Raj Bhasin does an exceptional job as Vikrant. Vikrant’s transition from a decent guy to a wicked-minded individual is amazing. The shift in Vikrant’s character happens slowly. What’s amusing is every time Vikrant pushes a little into the dark, he inadvertently becomes funny in his imagination and actions. My other favourites are Saurabh Shukla and Anchal Singh, who are outstanding as Akheraj and Purva. No one knows what’s going on in the minds of the evil father-daughter duo. Shweta Tripathi Sharma, Surya Sharma and Brijendra Kala also shine in their parts.

Final Thoughts

Overall, Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein is the perfect juicy Hindi thriller we’ve been craving. There’s plenty of drama and thrills in this show.  The plot is fascinating, the execution is humorous and suspenseful, and the acting is superb. The music is the icing on the cake. The opening credits are fantastic. You will, however, be furious when the series ends because you need answers. The series ends on a cliffhanger, and it’s a GREAT one! Can we get a new season ASAP?

The show is streaming on Netflix.

  1. I loved this production. Nos so much for the plot which was okay but for the performance of Tahir Raj Basin. Everybody is good in this movie but this guy is absolutely terrific. All the others in this movie act well, but he towers over them all. The way he plays the character of a vulnerable and sensitive human being who is driven to doing inhumane things reminded me of Amitaph Bachhan’s performance in Majboor. I know now Tahir is a big fan of Shah Rrukh Khan. So was I but long time time back. I really wish he aspires to be Bachhan who is still one of the greatest in the world (I should know givent that I am a great film buff. Here is hoping that realize you full potential.
