Releasing this April, Netflix’s black comedy series Beef is all set to wow the audiences with its ten episode-run. The offbeat TV comedy show was created by Lee Sung-jin with Ali Wong, Steven Yeun, Alli Reich, Ravi Nandan, Jake Schreier and Sung-jin as its executive producers.
Matthew Medlin has contributed to the project as the producer, while the production companies behind the series are Bugsy Bell Productions, Universal Remote Productions and A24. Moreover, writer Lee Sung-jun has previously worked with Wong and Yeun on the animated series Tuca & Bertie.

The main cast of the show stars Steven Yeun as Danny Cho, Ali Wong as Amy Lau, David Choe as Isaac, Young Mazino as Paul, Joseph Lee as George and Patti Yasutake as Fumi. The recurring cast includes Maria Bello, Ashley Park, Justin H. Min, Andrew Santino, and others.
Beef Storyline/Plot
The upcoming dramedy series revolves around the two leads crossing paths on a road rage incident, a not-so-meet-cute. Danny (a failing contractor) and Amy (an unfulfilled entrepreneur) seek a win in their plummeting lives. The incident pushes them to embark on a mutually noxious journey of enmity that incites their worst innate impulses.

Lee’s show leads with the tagline “Revenge is best served raw”. Constantly hustling to make it big, Amy and Danny are spiralling down emotionally while feeling stuck in their lives and situations they never wanted. The vengeful path drawn out by the two against each other proves that “actions have consequences” but are far from normal. So, the show’s title makes it as clear as possible that the two have a ‘beef’ with each other.
Both the trailer and the show’s synopsis are as vague as possible. They openly illustrate that a traffic incident sparks the feud between the story’s main characters while lending us some hints about how difficult it is for them to deal with the banality of their lives. Therefore, it’s safe to assume that there’s much more to the plot than what has been revealed officially. All 10 episodes of the show will have us witness these characters in their worst element as they break all codes of conduct and indulge in vandalism and whatnot. The story has been inspired by Lee’s first-hand experience of a road rage incident.
