White House Plumbers

HBO Max is bringing a satirical political miniseries and we are ready for it! The upcoming series is created and written by Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck with director David Mandel on board. It is based on the 2007 book Integrity by Egil Krogh and Matthew Krogh. The cast includes Woody Harrelson, Justin Theroux, Domhnall Gleeson, Lena Headey, Kiernan Shipka, Ike Barinholtz, Yul Vazquez, David Krumholtz, Rich Sommer, Kim Coates, Liam James, Kathleen Turner, Judy Greer and others.

The story of the show revolves around the Watergate masterminds and the political operatives E from President Richard Nixon’s time where we see the people part of the “White House Plumbers” who were charged with plugging press leaks end up overturning the Presidency they were aiming to protect.

May 2

1000% Me: Growing Up Mixed

A documentary at its core, we find filmmaker and comedian W. Kamau Bell tackling the joys and challenges of growing up mixed-race with sensitivity and humour as he has conversations with kids and families that live in the San Francisco Bay Area. This also includes his own roots! How fun and real is that, right?

May 4

The Other Two Season 3

The third season of Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider’s comedy series is here! Starring Heléne Yorke as Brooke Dubek, Drew Tarver as Cary Dubek, Case Walker as Chase Dubek aka ChaseDreams, Ken Marino as Streeter Peters and Molly Shannon as Pat Dubek, we will continue to see how the millennial siblings deal with the rising fame of their youngest sibling, a 13-year-old.

Unicorns Warriors Eternal

Adult Swim is just the house that brings us the best (think Rick and Morty!) and we have a brand new animation series to gel up to! This new show is going to be about a young girl who unwittingly is infused with magical ability and, when she discovers what she is capable of, she ends up becoming part of a supernatural evil fighting group, essentially the new age superheroes in this universe. The cast includes Genndy Tartakovsky, Victor Alli, Ron Bottitta and several others.

May 8

Two Sides of the Abyss (Die zwei Seiten des Abgrunds)

A German crime thriller to add to your list, Two Sides of the Abyss is about an inevitable catastrophe that arrives in the life of a Police officer and the people involved with him when the murderer of his daughter gets an early release from prison. The series is created by Kristin Derfler and stars Dirk Martens, Josephine Thiesen and Lea van Acken in major roles.

May 16

Angel City

Sports documentaries are always well-loved by the audience, so we are hoping that this one is no different. Directed by Arlene Nelson and produced by Academy Award-winners Natalie Portman, Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi, and Jimmy Chin, with Sophie Mas, Anna Barnes, and Christine O’Malley, Angel City is just what it sounds!

The docuseries is going to get behind the scenes and on the pitch of the groundbreaking Angel City Football Club which is the Los Angeles-based professional women’s soccer team. From their origin story to their present state, we will see this three part documentary show cover it all.

Spy/Master

A Romanian action thriller to warm your seats, the trailer description for Spy/Master explains it all, reading: “The show takes place at the height of the Cold War and presents a week in the life of the fictional character Victor Godeanu (Alec Secăreanu), the right-hand man of the Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu and his closest adviser. But Godeanu has a secret: he is a double agent and must flee Romania and escape Ceaușescu before he is discovered.

“With only one chance to stay alive, he uses a diplomatic trip to Germany to get to the States. Aided by an undercover Stasi agent and ex-girlfriend (Svenja Jung) and a CIA agent (Parker Sawyers), Godeanu must beware of the KGB and spies from his own country (Ana Ularu and Laurentiu Bănescu), aware that desertion puts him the family in danger of death. Everything you love.” The series will star Ana Ularu, Aidan McArdle, Nico Mirallegro amongst others.

Love to Love You Donna Summer

If you are thinking of the American singer-songwriter Donna Summer after reading the title, then you are in the right direction because this upcoming documentary is about her. Directed by the Oscar and Emmy-winning filmmaker Roger Ross Williams and Brooklyn Sudano (the daughter of Donna Summer), series will explore the icon’s music career and personal life.
