What If Episode 7 Recap: Plot Summary

Thor and Loki’s relationship has been pivotal in the first three MCU phases. But as The Watcher ponders the question – what if there’s a timeline where Thor had no brother? What kind of Asgard Prince would he turn out? Well, today’s episode is the answer – A Party Prince. In What If Episode 7 ‘What If… Thor Were an Only Child?’, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor is obsessed with partying on different planets. As Loki is at Jotunheim, there’s no threat to Asgard, which shaped him as a saviour.

After Odinson slips into Odinsleep, Frigga heads to her sister’s place to chill. She tells her son that he has to be a responsible king like his father, and if he does any mischief, Heimdall will let her know. Thor and his friends decide to party at Midgard as Heimdall doesn’t care about such a backward planet. Jane and Darcy (Natalie Portman and Kat Dennings) are keeping a watch as they doubt an alien invasion, just like we saw in the Thor movie.

When the Party Prince arrives on Earth, various alien races from the MCU join him from the party – Nebula, Kree, Frost Giants, Grand Master, Korg, Drax, Rocket, Howard The Duck and many more. Jane ends up partying and falling in love with the God of Thunder instead of stopping him. However, Maria Hill and the agents of Shield are not happy with the invasion and seek help from Captain Marvel to stop Thor.

Captain Marvel, or ‘party pooper’ as Thor calls her, has a powerful showdown. The Party Prince has no plans to stop partying and loitering on Earth. So Jane Foster does something no one can imagine. Thankfully, everything ends well until the last 15 seconds when Marvel introduces us to the next big villain. It would be best if you watched the episode to find out who it is.

What If Episode 7 Review: Discussion

After giving us 3 distressing episodes, Marvel released a fun and light episode. It’s good to see Thor having a stress-free life because he suffers so much in the live-action stories. I didn’t share a still of Loki (Tom Hiddleston) as Frost Giant because it’s marvellous, and you should watch it in the episode. The fight scenes between Captain Marvel and Thor in What If will make those fans happy who always argue, ‘who’s stronger?’. The answer is BOTH.

The episode starts on an exciting note but gets dragged in the middle due to all the conversation and fight scenes. Considering it’s just a 30-minute episode, the makers could’ve trimmed the fights a bit. However, it picks up the pace at the end again, shocking us with that chilling end.

Final Thoughts

Captain Marvel in What If…? Episode 7

I’d say that go and watch the episode and have a good laugh at how silly God of Thunder is. Loki is a giant sweetheart, and Captain Marvel is a force to reckon with. A wedding happens in today’s episode, and no, it’s not Thor and Jane. Trust me, just when we think it’s ending well, Marvel drops the threat bomb that no one was prepared for!
