Vinland Saga Season 2 Episode 5 is the fifth episode of the latest season of one of the most anticipated sequels of this year. Vinland Saga is an action, adventure, and drama series directed by Shuuhei Yabuta and based on an original manga written by Makoto Yukimura. The latest season is being animated by Studio MAPPA.
A tale set in the golden age of Vikings, Vinland Saga follows Thorfinn, son of the greatest warrior ever to set foot in the world, Thors. Even after Thors moves away from the violence he had been embroiled in since his youth, it finds him and his family anyways as he tragically lost his life to the same people he once deemed his fellow warriors. Thorfinn swears vengeance and vows to defeat the person who started it all and to find the fabled Vinland, a paradise somewhere west.
Season 1, or the prologue of the series, saw Thorfinn become a vassal of the newest king of England and Denmark, Canute. However, in a tragic turn of events, he was unable to avenge his dead father by killing Askeladd, as he tragically lost his life trying to save his homeland from being invaded by the Vikings. Thorfinn must now find a new purpose in life, one that doesn’t involve revenge and eating his life in a fruitless pursuit. It is time to see how Thorfinn grows as a person.

After leaving the story of Thorfinn and Einar at a solid place, it is now time to look at the Danish conquest of England and see how that is going for King Canute. Perhaps we will come to know what happened in the aftermath of Thorfinn trying to hurt Canute after him ordering Askeladd to be killed. While the answer looks to be pretty cut and dry, there might be more to it that we don’t know yet. It is going to be interesting to see where this journey took Canute.

Other than Canute, we also saw two other characters return in the preview. The most interesting of them was Thorkell, the jovial middle-aged Viking who lives for the thrill of the kill, and his current position in the army of the king is sure to be a high one. The other character is Bjorn, who is yet to get what is coming to him for plotting the murder of Thors. Both of these seem to be important for this season’s story. Let’s see if they ever meet Thorfinn again.

Thorfinn starts reconsidering his existence as Einar starts to wonder if there is more to Thorfinn’s story. Thorfinn tells him the truth about everything related to his past and how he is no different than the people who killed Einar’s family. Einar wants to do something bad to Thorfinn because of this but lets him be due to his kind nature, and after seeing Thorfinn suffer that much from his past.
