Pop Icon and High School Musical The Musical The Series actor Olivia Rodrigo is set to release her sophomore album titled GUTS, and in lieu of that, she released a single, which fans are ready to talk about in the Vampire Twitter reactions. Performed by the aforementioned artist, this song is written and produced by Daniel Nigro, who had also worked with the SOUR artist on her previous album. The music video released is directed by Petra Collins and produced by Tiffany Suh.
The video was shot by Russ Fraser, while Pat Romano served as the stunt coordinator for some of the off-ground shots in the music video and the light collision as well. The video is set on an Award Ceremony stage. The artist is seen singing the song in a sad ballad, surrounded by foliage, moss and a general earthy tone, reminiscent of the cottage-core energy. However, the dark undertone of the lighting and the colour grading let us know that this will be more of a sinister song.
As the song reveals, Vampire is about this person who keeps using a person over and over again for their benefit and is never seen otherwise. It gives her the idea that this person was constantly sucking her dry of all her energy and self-esteem. But this person isn’t just using her for her personality but also for her fame. This idea that you can be a commodity for someone to benefit from is one Rodrigo has shared multiple times in her previous music as well. The song brutal on SOUR is similar, where she speaks about fame taking away all her normal experiences while others remain glib.
In their reactions, fans talk about how she has beaten the sophomore slump allegation. Considering she released her first album around two years ago, many felt that her second album wouldn’t be as good as the first. However, there are still people who know her music well and choose to focus on what works from this song, including the bridge, which has always been her speciality (taking us back to Taylor Swift). Others have also taken to comment on the music video, saying that the artist and the director Collins have done it yet again. To see what else they think, check out the reactions below.
Olivia Rodrigo’s first album SOUR, had 11 songs, including brutal, traitor, drivers license, 1 step forward, 3 steps back, deja vu, good 4 u, enough for you, happier, jealousy, jealousy, favorite crime and hope ur okay. Her sophomore album is expected to have 12 songs, including the lead single she released today. Apart from being evocative of rock opera, she also wanted to explore her evolution from her previous album with the release of this one.
