Urusei Yatsura returns to breathe new life into the “boy meets extraordinary girl” genre. This anime masterpiece combines elements of comedy, romance, and sci-fi, enriched with a generous dose of humorous gags.
Once again, the series boasts a talented trio of directors at its helm. Among them is Takahashi Hideya, renowned for his contributions to Sword Art Online, Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru, To LOVE-Ru, and more. The other directors include Kamei Takahiro, known for his work on Enen no Shouboutai, Captain Tsubasa (2018), and others, as well as Kimura Yasuhiro, who lent his expertise to Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic.
Episode 11 of Urusei Yatsura 2nd Season can also be called the 11th episode of うる星やつら第2期.
This anime unfolds in a world suddenly invaded by aliens known as Oni, who are determined to conquer humanity. Enter Ataru Moroboshi, a flirtatious young man incapable of resisting the allure of any beautiful woman in his path. His constant flirting leads to his girlfriend, Shinobu, breaking up with him. However, Ataru’s life takes an unexpected turn when government officials reveal that he plays a pivotal role in the aliens’ plan to invade Earth.
Taken to the alien leader, Ataru learns that his fate hinges on a game of tag with one of the extraterrestrials. If he wins, the aliens will abandon their invasion. To his surprise, his opponent is Lum, the leader’s daughter. While Ataru manages to defeat Lum in a less-than-polite manner, he soon finds himself in a new predicament.
In a twist of events, Lum misinterprets Ataru’s promise to marry Shinobu as a confession to herself and enthusiastically supports the idea. Leveraging her position as the alien princess, Lum moves in with Ataru, complicating his life further. Now, Ataru must navigate his desires while simultaneously salvaging his crumbling relationship with Shinobu.
