Unsolved Mysteries Volume 3 Review: Edge-of-your-seat Thriller, Once More

Unsolved Mysteries is a 2020 crime-mystery documentary series that talks about different mysterious cases that, as the title suggests, were never solved. Previously with two seasons, Unsolved Mysteries volume 3 has 9 episodes, and the series will release three episodes every week for 3 weeks. Each episode has a runtime of around 45 minutes to an hour.

The Netflix description reads:

Real cases of perplexing disappearances, shocking murders and paranormal encounters fuel this gripping revival of the iconic documentary series.

– Unsolved Mysteries Volume 3 Review Does Not Contain Spoilers –

There’s something so immensely off-putting about watching a crime documentary that never has a satisfying ending. Unsolved Mysteries, breaking hearts for years at this point, does exactly that and leaves you feeling rather hopeless and frustrated.

The documentary show, currently with only three episodes out, is a reminder that the world shows us such odd things without any explanation that you can’t help but stare in disbelief. As you watch one episode after another, you will be filled with questions and be left intrigued – is there really no happy ending?

The three episodes this week are Mystery at Mile Marker 45, Something in the Sky and Body in Bags. The episodes all provide different flavours but the same ending, and you will, just like the previous instalments, be left rather shocked as new information come to the forefront in every episode. If you think one thing, be prepared to be absolutely bamboozled with the next set of information!

Unsolved Mysteries Volume 3 Review

As always, there are no narrators and Unsolved Mysteries volume 3 also follows the same format. The series lets those involved in the mysteries take the show forward and fill you with intrigue. There are tons of pictures, videos and people to do a great job, and thus, the show goes forward and gets rid of anything else. It works in favour of the shows and adds some much-needed grimness to the overall tale.

I think watching the last moments of a person’s life before tragedy striking is always uncomfortable to watch as an audience. But to think that the families of these people never got an opportunity to figure out the truth and are left reeling from the aftermath of an unsolved case is all the more harrowing. The mysteries are delicious for the fanatics of true crime, but somewhere, you are left to feel heartbroken for the family and friends who just never got closure.

Also, what is the role of the authorities in these stories? Do they do a good job and yet don’t find anything to come to a conclusion? Or do they just do a lacklustre job and then simply give up? Sometimes you are left seething at the police’s apathy; you, as an audience, want justice. Unsolved Mysteries volume 3 makes us question a lot of things and leaves us probably a little scared – what if we ever end up in such a situation?
