Typhoon Family Episode 7 Recap

After getting driven out of the fishing dock, Tae-poong and Mi-seon go to Cha-ran to ask for help. They pitched their idea, and at first, Cha-ran tells them how crazy this thought process is. However, she agrees to help them out and fixes a meeting with the captain of the ship. There, it gets revealed that the captain actually knew Tae-poong’s father, and he agrees to help, but he needs someone from their team on the ship to handle any kind of issues. Kim agrees to go with them right away, and things work out because he also has a marine engineering degree, and the captain actually needed an engineer himself.

However, the problem is how they are going to load all the shoes on the ship, and Tae-poong comes up with a brilliant plan. He hides these shoes under actual crab and fish that are supposed to go on that boat anyway. But just when they were about to set sail, the police came for a surprise inspection.

They rounded up the crew and asked for their IDs. Tae-poong was still on the boat, so he hid because getting caught would have him arrested, and all his goods would have been confiscated. Thankfully, he comes up with another idea where he boards a side boat, uses flour to create a ruckus, and makes the police let the big boat go without any issue.

However, while Tae-poong was on the smaller boat, the loan sharks came and tried to intimidate him. He, however, does not budge at all, and they had to let him go because they can’t hurt him yet. If something happens to him, Tae-poong will not be able to pay, and the thugs will not get any money back. After Tae-poong returns, we get a very romantic reunion moment between Tae-poong and Mi-seon. But that is not all, later, Tae-poong even confesses his love for Mi-seon out of nowhere. This obviously makes Mi-seon blush, but she neither denies nor confirms her feelings to him.

We also get a look at how the financial crisis of that time affected everyone and how tough those days were for them. The series does a good job of bringing out these elements and makes a social commentary on top of that. After that, we see Tae-poong’s mother taking care of Oh Beom just like her own son, and she even calls him her youngest child.

However, the best aspect of this episode is definitely when Tae-poong pays all his debt money to the gangsters. Things are finally looking bright for him, and he also gives gifts to his friends. Not only that, but now he even plans on how he can expand his business to export other products. He also decides to hire all the former employees and build something together.

I really like today’s episode, as it was one of the few segments where something positive happened. Tae-poong finally pays his dues, and now he will not have to lose his eyes anymore. There will obviously be more problems in his life, but at least for now, things are better.
