Typhoon Family Episode 5 Recap

This episode begins on a very funny note, where Mi-seon sees Tae-poong and his mother sleeping in their office. Here, she asks them what has happened and realises that the family has nowhere to go anymore, and that is why they utilised their office. Needless to say, she offers to take them in as they do not have any money to find a new place. However, she obviously does not live in a posh neighbourhood, and her house is literally on top of a hill. We see Mi-seon’s very dynamic family members, and everyone has their own distinct personality.

Though at first, Tae-poong was having problems adjusting to that house, he slowly became more comfortable with the new situation. At night, without being able to sleep, Tae-poong goes outside to take a stroll, and that is when he and his mother think about their dreadful situation. Somewhere else, Nam-mo is also working hard to earn money, where he also saves a woman from getting sexually harassed, but gets beaten in the process.

At the office, Tae-poong and Mi-seon enjoy a nice moment where they gradually come closer without realising. They also have a fun time discussing possible company deals, and it becomes clear that they have great chemistry. On the other hand, Jeong-mi also treats Mi-seon’s family as her own and helps feed the son.

But that is when tragedy strikes as Tae-poong gets scammed, and he finds an empty warehouse. Park literally put Tae-poong’s items as collateral and sold them all off, losing every item. He also lost all the money that was given to him, and Tae-poong became absolutely mad about his situation.

Later, both Tae-poong and his mother shared a very emotional and sad moment as they thought about their situation and financial woes. He finally tells his mother that all his goods and his money are gone, and he doesn’t know what to do anymore. He finally cries about this situation and shows his weakness in front of his mother.

But they’re not the only ones who are having a bad time. Mi-seon’s sister is also having a tough time at her job, where she needs to stand all day in front of an elevator and smile while announcing which floor they are going to. On the other hand, Tae-poong tries to apply for loans for small businesses, but he gets no proper response from any company. Mi-seon truly believes in Tae-poong because she is the one who comes to rescue him and gives her share of money to help out.

After that, when Tae-poong goes to retrieve his goods, he sees how brutal the loan sharks are in reality, and then things turn violent. He signs a wager from which he cannot back out anymore.
