Tying the Knot with an Amagami Sister Episode 1 Review And Recap

Another harem romcom dropped today, and it is better than what I expected. The story is about a high school boy, Uryu, who suffered many losses in his life. He grew up alone, and his only parent, his mother, passed away when he was little.

This made him grow up in an orphanage without the support of his family and turned him into a staunch atheist who only believes in the ability of oneself. According to him, no God or person will help you out until and unless you help yourself.

However, his entire life takes a different direction when he moves in with his foster family, which happens to be a shrine in Kyoto. This anime is going to be an absolute and total harem gets proven right off the bat when you see our hero approaching three brides in the opening scene.

You learn who the capture targets are, and these three people will have to fight for our hero’s affection in the future. And just like a proper harem, Uryu meets the heroines in a funny and not-very-appropriate manner.

The shrine has 3 talented shrine maidens who are the granddaughters of the priest, and upon them stumbled Uryu when they were changing. Here, we have the clumsy and childish older sister, Yae, then we have Yuna, the vital tsundere middle sister, and lastly, we have the funloving youngest sister Asahi. The meeting obviously came with terrible first impressions against our hero, who was rejected as a family by Yuna on the spot for being a pervert.

Plus, Uryu, whose beliefs clash with the Amagami sister’s faith, faces a conflict point in this episode when a disagreement arises. But, all in all, in the 1st episode, we get a fairly decent introduction that is not extraordinary but entertains us nonetheless. The animation is also pretty nice, and the music is very genre-appropriate. Hence, if you are into harem romcoms, definitely put this on your watchlist.

Verdict

This episode was pretty good, considering it is just the beginning. I am definitely going to continue watching it and evaluate whether this is just your generic show or if it has something different for us. As of now, we have some interesting characters and a decent plotline.
