Adored the Twinkling Watermelon Boys? Watch These Ryeoun and Choi Hyun-wook Kdramas Next!

Apart from the plot, the fans have fallen head over heels for the Twinkling Watermelon boys, Ryeoun and Choi Hyun-wook, for their undeniable chemistry, both on-screen and off-screen. Twinkling Watermelon or Sparkling Watermelon (반짝이는 워터멜론) has been a treat for avid Kdrama enthusiasts as it includes all the tropes to make it one of the best romantic shows to come out lately. Although it had a rough start, the show ended on a high note, recording an all-time high rating among the viewers!

The K-drama is directed by Son Jong-hyun and written by Jin Soo-Wan. Seol In-ah and Shin Eun-soo also appear alongside the male cast for the show. The series has a total of 16 episodes with a runtime of approximately 60 minutes each.

Ryeoun Kdramas

18 Again

The actor takes up the role of Hong Si-u, a troubled teenage boy in the series. Things take a turn when his father morphs into his younger self and joins school along with him. Eventually, their relationship improves as his father becomes in friend and helps him deal with the complexities of high school life. Embracing the role of a high school student, he breathes life into the character and makes it extremely relatable to the audience.

Through the Darkness

Taking up the role of Jung Woo-joo, a character who provides information and analyzes various incident data in the suspense-thriller drama. This particular performance from the artist is responsible for putting him on the map and garnered immense critical acclaim. Moreover, he also won the Best New Actor Award in the 2022 SBS Drama Awards.

Adult Trainee

The South Korean web series directed by Yoo Hak-chan and Jeong Hyeong-gun mainly depicts three different stories. Divided into three parts, the actor appears in the second part as Nam-ho. The plot follows a conservative girl who inevitably falls for Nam-ho, who has the exact opposite personality to her. The love story is not just heart-fluttering but extremely relatable to the younger audience.

The Secret Romantic Guesthouse

Released in 2023 itself, this is the second Kdrama where Ryeoun appeared in the lead role. He stars as Kang San, a student preparing for a martial arts program. Set in ancient Korea, the story surrounds a guesthouse called Ihwawon Inn, run by a woman named Yoon Dan-o. However, all their lives intertwine when a case presents itself which can erase most of their problems.

Choi Hyun-wook Kdramas

Twenty Five Twenty One

Hyun-wook’s career takes off from this particular role as Moon Ji-woong, who is a high school student popular amongst his peers. His relentless efforts at pursuing Ko Yu-rim’s heart are what makes the audience adore him. Moreover, his lively and fun personality in the series keeps the heavy and tragic story light and fresh.

Weak Hero Class 1

Starring in the lead role as Ahn Su-ho, the web series is based on a popular webtoon Weak Hero. The story follows a high school boy who is extremely intelligent but gets bullied by his classmates. Until he meets Su-ho who is the best fighter in the school and helps him out in surviving the violence. They eventually become close friends and lead their lives looking out for one another.

The popular series returns for another season following the very successful first part. Similar to the first one, the story magnifies social issues like corruption, LGBTQ+ discrimination and more. Hyun-wook takes up the role of Shin Ah-hui and receives critical acclaim for his incredible performance in the series. His standout performance showcases his range as an artist and opens up a lot of amazing future prospects in his career.

Hi Cookie

Hyun-wook yet again takes up the lead role for this ongoing fantasy thriller drama. The story follows a group of people with unfortunate circumstances, who find themselves in a moral dilemma. They are presented with a cookie that makes their wishes into reality with just one bite. However, the plot is not as simple as it looks and they soon fall into dangerous situations. The actor delivers a convincing and phenomenal performance and the audience finds themselves waiting for his appearance in the show.
