Um, guys, have we recovered from the last episode’s tiny smooch yet? Not really, but what happened after?

Well, it’s… not what we expected, unfortunately. Yi-jin changes the topic and opts to drop Hee-do home. Outside her home, as Hee-do waits for a reply, or literally any mention of her daring showcase of love, Yi-jin asks her to go inside. Annoyed, she asks him whether this kind of love is unacceptable to him. He answers saying that he’s more concerned about whether her toe has healed and stuff like that when it comes to her. Heartbroken, Hee-do goes inside.

Does this mean… he loves her as a sister because my heart won’t be able to take it. We transition to the present where Min-chae, too, is extremely angry at the outcome and as the past and present become one, Min-chae watches a sobbing Hee-do coming into the room and breaking down on the bed. Man. You feel so bad for poor Hee-do as she screams why the world had to come to an end.

Outside, Yi-jin is sulking about what just happened. As Min-chae rages behind him, he tells himself that it’ll be ok and he’ll be able to get over it eventually. Min-chae is appalled that he’s trying to comfort himself while her mother is sitting inside crying her eyes out.

Later on, although Hee-do is still suffering from the aftermath of her disintegrated relationship before it even began, Ji-wong invites her to a party. Well, the party is a driving party which is cut short when he confesses that he is terrified and wants to go back. Back at his home, the four must struggle to park the car but must call in reinforcements after a whole evening of trying. When that fails too, they employ one crazy tactic to finally place the car in place.

Meanwhile, Yi-jin has a drink with Chan-mi who tells him what happened between her and Jae-kyung and, most importantly, asks him what he will do if he has to report something untoward against Hee-do. However, he has to stop his thoughts when he finds Hee-do waiting for him outside his house. She asks him to not tell her to stop loving him and that she has come to meet him because she misses him.

They go out to eat but one thing leads to another and as she tries to remove a thread from his jacket, he thinks that she’s going in for another kiss and moves away while stuffing his face with food. Horrified, Hee-do runs away wondering who behaves with people like this and after spewing hate on him incessantly in her diary, finally writes that she still likes him. On the other hand, a drunk Yi-jin calls and tells Hee-do that they can’t be together since he will end up disappointing her. However, he desperately does want to waiver. The call, fortunately, or unfortunately, goes to Ji-wong.

Yes, Yi-jin screams when he wakes up and realises what he has done.

Anyway, Hee-do shares her plight with Yu-rim and tells her that she is afraid that she will lose him because she expressed her feelings. However, Yu-rim tells her that although losing it all might hurt, she at least had these feelings at some point so that’s all that matters. Meanwhile, Yi-jin, too, asks Jung-hyuk when he can transfer to another department and the latter warns him to not get too close to the subjects of his investigation.

Yi-jin finds Hee-do outside his door again that night in Twenty Five Twenty One episode 13. She rants that she finds herself pathetic for continuing to do this but it is just how she is. Although she encourages him to tell her everything on his mind, just like she does, he doesn’t take up her offer. Yi-jin tries to get away but Hee-do makes a good point – she asks him to either lose it all and put up boundaries, or not do all this. Yi-jin chooses the former, much to her heartbreak, but assuredly calls the police to make rounds so that Hee-do is protected.

The next day, at the fencing championship, Hee-do and Yu-rim both lose their matches. Yi-jin is there as well. Afterwards, he finds jer talking sweetly with another athlete and is jealous out of his mind. It’s actually quite endearing and funny, the way he turns the umbrella around. He leaves a note on a glove that she left behind, she immediately calls him and they have the stupidest, albeit funniest conversation possible by two adults.

Anyway, back to fencing, it’s nice watching such nice sportsmanship within a team of ladies. You usually see women at each other’s throats in the media. But when Hee-do says that she’s fighting not just for herself, but for their team as a whole. This is the last time she and Yu-rim will fight for a team so it’s extra special and memorable and the creators have really done a wonderful job. Every moment of the match will make you smile.

However, things aren’t looking up for Yi-jin at the moment. He’s under tremendous pressure because he is unable to maintain his distance from Hee-do and his boss won’t let him switch to another sport either. The boss asks him to fix his mistake, but is this a mistake that he wants to be fixed? That, probably, is answered later that night when Hee-do visits him again. He finally expresses how much he wants to waiver to her and falls it his failure. Finally, he asks for distance between them.

As it snows oh-so beautifully, Hee-do tearfully asks him whether all of this wouldn’t have happened had she not kissed him. She pleads with him that she will stop loving him if that’s what she wants. But he excuses himself and goes inside, leaving her crying. She continues to tell him that she can’t lose him in any way, whatever kind of relationship they might share. Hee-do crying is honestly difficult to sit through and Yi-jin definitely agrees with us.

He rushes out and kisses her. After a lengthy and quite passionate kiss, he tells her that she drives him crazy and then agrees to try “this kind of love”. He promises to do everything he can with her, so she better prepare herself and then continues kissing her.

Final Thoughts: Twenty Five Twenty One Episode 13

Ah, I was not ready. Kim Tae-ri and Nam Joo-hyuk, first and foremost, make an excellent couple. They have lovely chemistry, both when they are passionately in love and when they pull pranks on each other. I guess it’s the kind of love that is only possible when you are that age when you’re not completely an adult but not a kid either. It’s the perfect time for some great romance and terrible heartbreaks. Although I don’t want a heartbreak anymore, with only 3 more episodes to go, I am certainly glad that we are finally getting the romance.

Twenty Five Twenty One episode 13 was such a great watch. Just good vibes throughout. First watching Yu-rim and Hee-do sharing such a loving relationship, next is watching that wonderful fencing match that’s just so heartwarming and finally Yi-jin realising that this only goes down one road for him and Hee-do. I even loved watching Yu-rim and Ji-wong being cute as heck. We spent quite some time with them and I liked watching the two of them be lovey-dovey with each other.

All in all, I have said it before and I will say it again, Twenty Five Twenty One is an excellent series that just keeps on giving the good vibes with a tiny side of heartbreak.
