-True Spirit Review Contains No Spoilers-
The movie is exactly how the title suggests; it is about the person’s spirit and willpower that allows them to achieve unattainable things. Jessica set her goal to become the youngest sailor in history to travel the world alone at a very young age. She worked on it day and night to fulfil her dreams and ambitions.
However, the plot failed to create a connection with the audience. The story was disorganised, with sudden flashbacks, subplots, and unrelated scenes in between the main plot creating a detachment which was hard to avoid. The film’s main character was often sidelined and focused more on technicalities.
Nevertheless, the climax redeemed the movie. The suspense and the anticipation in the last few minutes are executed mind-blowingly. The life-threatening storm which almost took her life was shown seamlessly. Also, the addition of the actual footage of the sailor at the end of the movie painted a perfect picture of what had happened during her journey.

Another positive aspect of the movie is the enthralling cinematography. The sailing scene was done marvellously and will transport the viewers right to the middle of the sea. The breathtaking views, the destructive storms and the peaceful calm were displayed explicitly, which will provide the audience with a closer look at the difficult experience.
The actors also did an incredible job, especially Teagan Croft. She captured the emotions, delivered a raw performance, and did the role justice. Other artists also did what the script demanded and managed to bring the characters to life. The music also elevated the storytelling process.
The true story of Jessica will leave the audience in awe at her bravery. Facing the wrath of the sea and mother nature at the ripe age of sixteen for over 200 days and never once thinking of quitting is an unbelievable accomplishment.

True Spirit Review: Final Thoughts
The true story of Jessica Watson and her achievements are an example of how no one can stop you from fulfilling your dreams. With determination and resoluteness, but, most importantly, believing in yourself since nothing can be attained if we fail to do so. Watson is a true hero, not just for women but for people everywhere. She inspires people of all ages, and she provides hope to everyone.
Even though the movie’s plot lacked certain elements, the message the creators intended to deliver was captured well. However, the film would have been better if the audience got a deeper look at the thoughts and feelings of Jessica rather than providing just a glimpse of them.
