Will There Be Transatlantic Season 2?
Set in 1940 Marseilles, Americans Mary-Jayne Gold and Varian Fry realize they’ll need to start using unconventional methods to help the city’s refugees escape from Nazi-occupied France. Risking their lives to help more than 2000 refugees escape, including many artists on the Nazis’ most-wanted list, an international gang of young superheroes or the Emergency Rescue Committee and their famous charges occupy a villa at the edge of the city, where the threat of mortal danger gives way to unexpected collaborations and intense love affairs.
Throughout the series, we see many interpersonal relationships building among the characters and how the escape for the refugees put Fry and Gold on the Commissaire Frot target’s list to be exposed. However, in the end, Petit plans a desperate rescue operation. Realizing that Marseilles is no longer safe, Mary-Jayne, Albert and Varian all face heart-wrenching decisions as they all go their own separate ways.

On Netflix, the show is tagged as a limited series which means that it will not have any other sequel. However, looking at the recent events, the possibility of a limited series being renewed for another season doesn’t seem impossible. Especially since the show is getting a lot of attention and even the ending leaves much more to be explored and show what happened to each character when they left for different places.
Also, the creator of the show, Anna Winger said that they had to leave many people that were involved with the ERC to tell the specific story that they wanted to put forwards. There were people like Charles Fawcett, Miriam Davenport, Danny Bénédite and many refugees like Heinrich Mann, Golo Mann, and Alma Mahler that deserve a movie of their own.
Considering her statement, it leaves room for other characters to be explored in further seasons, if it ever happens & they could be linked with lead protagonists Mary-Jayne and Varian Fry. However, at this point, there is no official notice or update from the creators or Netflix regarding a second season.
Transatlantic is now streaming on Netflix.
