The Wheel of Time Season 1 has finally given out its closing statements and it could be a little troubling for a few to comprehend what that ending meant. Before The Wheel of Time Season 2 makes its entry, these plotlines need a concrete closure or answer at the most.
The Wheel of Time is an epic fantasy series based on Robert Jordan’s novel series of the same name and produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon Studios. Rafe Judkins serves as the showrunner for this series and stars Rosamund Pike as Moiraine, Daniel Henney as Lan, Zoë Robins as Nynaeve, Madeleine Madden as Egwene, Josha Stradowski as Rand, Marcus Rutherford as Perrin, Barney Harris as Mat, Kate Fleetwood as Liandrin, Priyanka Bose as Alanna, Hammed Animashaun as Loial, Sophie Okonedo as Siuan Sanche and Kae Alexander as Min Farshaw in prominent roles.

The Wheel of Time Season 1 Explained
Do we see the Dark One defeated?
By the end of The Wheel of Time Episode 8, we see Rand come face to face with a dark entity. Even though, the audience is allowed to assume that it is the Dark One, the probability of that is less. The man we encounter, who has been invading the dreams of the villagers from the Two Rivers can actually be Ishamael- one of the most powerful of the Forsaken. For the ones who didn’t notice, in one of the episodes towards the end, we see Stepin, Kerene’s Warder do a little ritual to keep the Forsaken at bay.
Another fact that confirms that the man we meet is not the Dark One that is destined to be defeated because Moiraine confirms that this is the first of the many last battles to come. The piece of Cuendillar our blue Ajah finds furthermore proves the point.
Is Rand the Dragon Reborn?
As for Rand al’Thor being the Dragon Reborn, we can assume it is true if the series is strictly going by the book. Moreover, we have already seen Machin Shin confirm this truth when the group was in The Ways.

Who are the people at the end of The Wheel of Time Season 1 Episode 8?
Again, going by the books, the new threat who is going to be the major villain of The Wheel of Time Season 2 arrives from the western shore of the continent of the Seanchans. Chances are the Seanchans are coming to wipe off the Aes Sedais and be the only channellers of the One Power. We understand that this is one dangerous group to tackle as their arrival is marked with a ginormous ocean wave that could destroy villages on and around the shore.
What happens to Moiraine next?
As we witnessed the painful scene where Moiranine tells Lan she can no longer touch the source implies that the Aei Sedai has been stilled. This is the term used when females are ‘gentled’. If one cannot touch the Source, channelling is next to impossible. We have also seen that in the case of male channellers, gentling leads them to become mentally unstable. This is much like the intercession performed to separate the daemon and its human in His Dark Materials.
However, if there are methods to restore the link between the source and the channeller comes much later in the books (discovered by Nynaeve). Thus, Moiraine’s immediate fate still remains unknown. She can surely continue to mentor the kids from the Two Towers and fulfil her journey to find the Dark One to confront the Dragon Reborn.

A lot remains unsaid and open in The Wheel of Time Season 1. Given that we are going to get a season 2, we can only hope for the show creators to answer the questions and let us know the fate of our characters.
