The Town Ending Explained
The series starts with Efe, Selim, Ahmet and Begum stumbling upon a wrecked car that is surprisingly full of cash. Realising that this is mafia business, most probably belonging to the Sepekcis, they pick up the $12 million of black money, hoping that no one will ever know that they are there. All of them are suffering from some financial problem, and the money seems like a lucrative opportunity to get out of the hole, even though they are all uncomfortable with the idea of dealing with black money.
However, soon, they realise that if they can get rid of the two men’s bodies in the totaled car, they will get more time to get out of town before the mafia starts to look for them but on the night they go out to do so, they stumble upon Yildrim, one of Nilhat Sepekci’s men, who instantly starts to follow them around realising that they must’ve taken the cash.

He, at first, tortures Ahmet for more information, but is unable to get anything out of him and slowly learns about the three men involved in the matter. Elsewhere, working as a mole, Nilhat is in dire straits as the mafia is after him and pressures Yildrim to get his money so that he can make his escape. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work out how he expected, and people start to slowly get murdered when word slowly gets out about the situation, including Nihat, who is exposed to be the mole.
Do Efe and his friends get to keep the money?

Efe does get to keep the money but loses Selim in the process after the Sepekcis learn of their involvement in the matter. It’s a mess all around as Efe and the others realise that the police in the town are corrupt and actually handed him over to the mafia, which eventually got him killed. Burning with the desire for revenge, Efe ends up concocting a plan with Begum, who is left distraught, and hits back at those who took his brother from him.
Why does Efe confess to the crime?

Realising that he can’t just go to the police and confess to his crimes, hoping to get justice, Efe realises that he has to get justice on his own. He tracks down the officer who handed Selim over to the mafia and gets him to confess and records his own confession before posting it on social media for all to see. This way, no one can tamper with the evidence. Moreover, he also kills Caner Sepekci, before implicating the remaining Sepekci for Selim’s murder to the public.

What happens in the end?

Huso, unfortunately, kills Yildrim after watching Efe’s confession video, which leaves his daughter devastated. In the end, Ahmet, Efe, Begum and Zeynep make their way out of town with all of their money for a brighter future. Begum is shown to be pregnant, and there’s new hope now, with them having avenged Selim’s death in some capacity.
