The Test Season 2 Episode 1 and 2 are part of the sports documentary series that circles around the Australian Cricket Team and their prominent tour of England and Pakistan in 2021 and 2022 respectively. The series is helmed by Adrian Brown and Sheldon Wynne and produced by Adrian, Richard Ostroff and Mish Armstrong.
The series features almost all the Australian cricket team members and coaching staff, including Captain Pat Cummins, Tim Paine, David Warner, Steven Smith, Nathan Lyon, and Marnus Labuschagne. Furthermore, the average runtime of each episode is 45-50 minutes.

The Test Season 2 Episode 1 of the sports documentary takes you inside the turbulent period of the Australian Cricket Team when Tim Paine handed over his resignation as the captain (after off-field misconduct with a female co-worker). And also announced his indefinite break from the game.
The series yet again finds the Baggy Greenside in a state of total unawareness, where the task remains to find a new captain for the side, right before the momentous Ashes series. Along with a replacement of an equally credible wicketkeeper, to balance the space behind the wickets.
During the previous season, the Sandpaper Scandal nearly took away the backbones of the Australian cricket team, while dismantling the core strength of the group. However, in this amazingly curated follow-up, we get to see the exit of the same guys, who infused the strength in the team, during its lowest phase ever. The whole premise is so poetic, that it feels more like a fiction tale, than a real-life cricket event.
The Australians have dominated the game for literally decades. They have been the team that defines resilience and the spirit of changing the game, at any given point in the match. Therefore, when you get to see an innate analysis of their downfall spiral, followed by desolate replacements, it is just a completely awe-worthy moment.
Throughout the series, you do have some clue about the trajectory of the team and its eventual rise to the top (given that you follow cricket matches). However, it’s not the decided path of victory that makes this documentary highly intriguing. Rather, it’s simply the speeches of constant defeats, and loss, from the team that dominated the world, that feels surreal and inspiring.
The Test Season 2 Episode 1 Final Thoughts
To minutely observe the attitude of players that are so accustomed to winning each time (that a single defeat feels like a grand loss), is an unmatchable enthralling experience that just grows onto you in successive episodes. Even though two instalments feel like a short parameter to judge the scale, the series carries enough potential to keep you hooked on the journey.
