The Seven Deadly Sins Grudge of Edinburgh Part 1 Ending Explained: Was Prince Tristan Able to Save Elizabeth?

The Seven Deadly Sins Grudge of Edinburgh Part 1 (七つの大罪: 怨嗟のエジンバラ) premiered on Netflix on December 20, 2022, with a total runtime of approximately 50 minutes. It is a two-part spin-off movie of one of the most popular and longest-running anime franchises, The Seven Deadly Sins. Directed by Bob Shirohata and written by Rintarou Ikeda and Nakaba Suzuki, the movie follows the life of Prince Tristan, the son of Meliodas and Elizabeth.

Yuuki Kaji is reprising his role as Meliodas from the anime series. Mikako Komatsu is voicing Tristan, the son of Meliodas, with Ayumu Murase voicing an older Tristan. The other supporting and recurring cast includes Sora Amamiya as Elizabeth, Jun Fukuyama as King, Aoi Yūki as Diane, Tatsuhisa Suzuki as Ban, Yuuhei Takagi as Gowther, Kouki Uchiyama as a fairy, Yōhei Azakami as Deathpierce, Kazuyuki Okitsu as Priest, Shinnosuke Tokudome as Tyrone, Shino Shimoji as Kurumiru and Makoto Koichi as Minika.

The anime film is a collaborative production between the Marvy Jack Studios and Alfred Imageworks.

The Seven Deadly Sins Grudge of Edinburgh Part 1 Ending Explained

While Tristan was on his journey to break the powerful curse that his mother was subjected to, he met with a group of fairies and a giant escaping from a battle soldier who wanted to capture them. Tristan successfully defeated the enemy with the help of an unnamed Fairy. From there on the group of misfits start their journey together to free the others.

Who put a curse on Elizabeth?

Later in the movie, it is revealed that the one who put a curse on Elizabeth is Deathpierce from Edinburgh, who is seeking revenge on Meliodas. His ultimate objective is to destroy and overrule the kingdom ruled by a Demon King and Goddess Queen. Hence, he put a powerful curse with the help of a Priest, which is impossible to break without the healing power of the Goddess Race or the age-old remedy used by the Fairy Race.

Were Tristan and his friends able to save the others?

After defeating the soldier controlled by magic, they head on to rescue the others captured by the army. Tristan and the Fairy get into a battle with the army and successfully defeat them too. The captured Giants and Fairies free themselves and flee the scene. But the danger was still not over as more powerful enemies appeared. Tristan recognises the Priest who cursed his mother and follows to defeat it, but it flees from the scene and sending a powerful monster to fight the prince.

Meanwhile, the Fairy is seen to be battling the powerful Mage, who applies various tricks to defeat him, but it fails. The Fairy is too powerful and leaves both the enemies and Tristan surprised.

Who is the Fairy?

As Tristan was battling the demon, an unknown surge of power took over him again. He backs down and urges the Fairy to be careful, but he reveals his identity soon after. The Fairy is none other than Lancelot, the son of Ban and Elaine.
