The Magician’s Elephant: All About the Netflix’s Animated Adaptation of the Children’s Novel

The Magician’s Elephant is an animated movie that will be premiering on Netflix. The film is based on the two-time Newbery Award-winning author Kate DiCamillo’s classic novel of the same name. Wendy Rogers directs the film, and Martin Hynes gives the screenplay. Julia Pistor and Jennifer Teter are credited as the producers.

With a runtime of 96 minutes, the plot of the film follows an orphaned boy in search of an elephant which he believes will help him find his lost sister. Mark Mothersbaugh gives the music, and Gary H. Lee is the movie’s cinematographer.

A number of renowned actors are included in the ensemble cast. The voice cast features Noah Jupe in the lead role as Peter. The supporting and recurring actors include Natasia Demetriou, Brian Tyree Henry, Mandy Patinkin, Miranda Richardson, Cree Summer, Lorraine Toussaint, Benedict Wong, Aasif Mandvi, Sian Clifford, Dawn French, Pixie Davies, Caitlin McKenna, Stephen Kearin and more.

The Magician’s Elephant Plot

The story of the movie is about a young boy, Peter, who is desperately in search of his long-lost sister, Adele. He visits a fortune teller one day, who tells him that an elephant will help him find what he is searching for. Subsequently, he goes on a magician’s show and meets the elephant that is destined to help him reach his loved one.

However, there are multiple obstacles along the way before he reaches his destination. The boy has to perform three seemingly impossible tasks in exchange for a magical elephant. The tasks include fighting and defeating the King’s greatest warrior, flying and more! After he successfully completes the missions, the king will hand over the elephant to him.

The trailer provides us with a peek into the magical world and Peter’s subsequent journey through turmoils to find his sister. The character design and the vibrant colours, along with the heartfelt moments, have increased the anticipation from the audience. With a stellar cast of amazing actors, the movie looks promising, and it is expected that it will be worth the watch.
