We are 5 months into 2023, and the streaming platforms had a lot of interesting movies and series released so far. Soon, it will be June, and some exciting content is on its way. The Idol, one of the most-awaited TV series, is also set to release in a few days. So far, there is a lot of buzz around the show because of the star cast and, of course, creator Sam Levinson. He is also the creator of HBO’s other popular series, Euphoria.

On May 22, the series premiere was held at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival. As per the reports, the team received a 5-minute standing ovation. If you are wondering what the HBO series is about, who stars in it, and when it will release, you have come to the right place!

The Idol Plot/Synopsis

We have seen several movies and shows and know real-life stories of celebrities who achieved great fame but also had a bad fall. In HBO’s upcoming series, a pop idol named Jocelyn has a nervous breakdown leading to her last tour’s cancellation. Jocelyn wants to do anything she can to revive her musical career. That’s when she gets acquainted with Tedros.

Tedros, a questionable self-help and cult guru, proves no help to Jocelyn. At least, that’s what the posters, teasers and trailers have hinted at so far. We see Jocelyn go on the darker side, which might not help rebuild her career. Her relationship with Tedros is wildly sexual and uncomfortable. What will be her fate? We will find out once the series drops.

HBO’s upcoming series stars Lily-Rose Depp as Jocelyn, Abel’ The Weeknd’ Tesfaye as Tedros, Troye Sivan as Xander, Dan Levy as Jocelyn’s agent, BLACKPINK’s Jennie Ruby Jane as Angel, Suzanna Son as Chloe, Moses Sumner as Izaak, and others. Music fans are excited to see The Weeknd and Jennie’s acting debut.

All the episodes are directed by Sam Levinson. Sam, Abel and Reza Fahim are the creators of the series.

The Idol Release Date, Number of Episodes and Trailer

The HBO show is scheduled to release on June 4, 2023 (Sunday). Every Sunday, a new episode will drop. As there are 6 episodes, the series will go on till July 9.
