The Great Indian Kapil Show Episode 13 Review

The Great Indian Kapil Show concluded its first season with a spectacular grand finale that not only brought joy and laughter but also showcased the quintessential charm of Indian familial bonds. Episode 12, featuring Kartik Aaryan and his mother Dr. Mala Tiwari, proved to be the perfect ending, blending humor, surprises, and heartfelt moments.

Kartik Aaryan, a beloved actor, graced the stage as a beacon of joy, delivering an episode that stood out as the season’s highlight. However, it was his mother, Dr. Mala Tiwari, who stole the limelight with her witty and unabashedly candid remarks about her son. She embodied the archetypal Indian mother, never missing an opportunity to humorously critique her child, which made for an episode full of genuine, hearty laughter.

The episode opened with Kapil Sharma’s stand-up segment where he humorously roasted his co-stars Kiku Sharda, Sunil Grover, and Rajiv Thakur. This segment set a lighthearted tone, preparing the audience for the entertainment to follow. Kapil’s jokes about the show’s international reach were met with cheers, as he quipped about their inability to vacation abroad now that their faces are recognizable in over 190 countries, thanks to Netflix.

As Kartik and his mother took the stage, the dynamics shifted to a more personal and intimate comedy. Dr. Mala Tiwari, encouraged by the ever-enthusiastic Archana Puran Singh, shared hilarious stories from Kartik’s childhood and student days. These anecdotes, filled with affection and gentle mockery, revealed the loving yet teasing relationship between mother and son. Kartik’s discomfort and nervousness only added to the authenticity and humor of the segment.

The interaction between Kartik’s parents about their courtship days, facilitated by Kapil, added another layer of warmth and humor. These moments resonated deeply with the audience, drawing them into the familial camaraderie that is relatable and endearing. The second half of the show ramped up the laughter with a series of comedic sketches. The potential brides’ segment, where women were brought on stage for Kartik, had the audience in splits.

Kartik’s mother, preferring doctor brides for her son, and Kartik leaning towards more easygoing suitors, created a humorous conflict that played out delightfully on stage. Kapil’s addition of his dog Chico to join Kartik’s dog Katori added a charming touch, leading to some adorable on-screen moments.

The highlight of the episode was the sketch comedy featuring Kiku Sharda, Krushna Abhishek, and Sunil Grover. Portraying a disjointed filmi family, with Sharda as the dramatic mother of Karan and Arjun, Abhishek as Shah Rukh Khan in his Pathaan avatar, and Grover as Salman Khan, the trio delivered a performance that was both hilarious and impressively accurate. Sunil Grover’s portrayal of Salman Khan was so spot-on that, without the visual, one could mistake him for the real Bhai. Abhishek’s imitation of Shah Rukh Khan, complete with the famous SRK pose, was equally commendable and had the audience in stitches.

Throughout the episode, Kapil Sharma’s knack for creating a comfortable and engaging environment for his guests shone brightly. His ability to connect with Kartik over their shared struggles and experiences in Mumbai, and his efforts to bring out the best in his guests, were commendable. This skill, combined with the spontaneous humor of his cast, made for a grand finale that was not only entertaining but also deeply satisfying.

As the curtains closed on the first season of The Great Indian Kapil Show, the episode left the audience with smiles and anticipation for the next season. The finale was a masterclass in balancing humor with heartfelt moments, showcasing the best of Indian television comedy. With Kartik Aaryan and his delightful family, especially his mother Dr. Mala Tiwari, the show ended on a high note, promising even greater entertainment in the future.

You can watch the episode streaming on Netflix.
