The Good Bad Mother Episode 7 Twitter Reactions: Twitter Wants Kang-ho and Young-soon to Catch a Break!

The Good Bad Mother episode 7 has fans crying for Young-soon and Kang-ho, who just can’t seem to catch a break with their lives. Directed by Shim Na-yeon and written by Bae Se-young, the series stars Ra Mi-ran, Lee Do-hyun, Ahn Eun-jin and Yoo In-soo in main roles.

The slice-of-life series (나쁜엄마) follows Young-soon and her son Kang-ho who share a tumultuous relationship with each other thanks to her strict parenting when he was a child. Now an adult, Kang-ho is a cold-hearted prosecutor who chooses to keep his distance from her mother and lives in the city. However, when a tragedy strikes, Kang-ho is forced to return home to the village, wherein he finds a new lease on life and rebuilds his relationship with his mother as well as with his childhood friend Mi-joo.

Episode 7 is a devastating look into what happens when people reach the bottom of the barrel and lose all hope. It’s a tragedy like no other, and the stellar performances just sell that desperation and heartbreak thoroughly. Young-soon making all these plans to help her son in the event of her passing is painful to watch and extremely realistic. Kang-ho’s desperation at the realisation that his mother is leaving him at the rehabilitation facility is probably the bleakest part of the episode, followed by, of course, Young-soon’s attempt on her own life.

Apart from the heartbreak, it was cute to watch Kang-ho getting along with the twins so well, and Mi-joo’s struggles with her feelings and her dreams also round off the episode. It’s also just interesting to watch the camaraderie among the villagers – letting their feelings be a part of Young-soon and Kang-ho’s terrible luck gives the story more emotion and character depth. The public bath scene was just adorable and Sam-sik is also funny sometimes, although I relate his character more to annoyance than anything else.

Netflix’s Ladies First arrives with a provocative premise and a talented cast, but the gender-swap comedy struggles to deliver sharp satire. Despite committed performances from Sacha Baron Cohen and Rosamund Pike, the film relies too heavily on repetitive role-reversal jokes and surface-level commentary.
