The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity Episode 6 Recap

The episode opens with Subaru admitting to Kaoruko that she secretly asked Rintaro to stop speaking with her. Expecting to be scolded, Subaru braces for anger or disappointment, but Kaoruko instead responds with calm understanding. She acknowledges how hard it is for Kikyo and Chidori students to interact freely and accepts that Subaru acted out of concern for her.

Yet this kindness only deepens Subaru’s guilt. Realising how selfish her actions truly were, she breaks down, blaming herself and begging for forgiveness. It’s a heartbreaking yet touching moment, as Kaoruko reassures her by expressing how much she values and loves her.

In the same conversation, Kaoruko confesses her feelings for Rintaro and learns that he had rejected Subaru’s earlier request to avoid her. This honesty becomes a turning point, helping Subaru come to terms with herself and fully accept Kaoruko’s relationship with Rintaro. Later, when Rintaro approaches Subaru, she meets him without hesitation. Their exchange lightens the mood, especially when he awkwardly asks how he can properly see Kaoruko, and Subaru quips that she isn’t Kaoruko’s mother.

From there, Subaru and Rintaro’s bond softens into genuine friendship, clearing the way for Kaoruko and Rintaro’s romance to grow without further obstacles.

This episode opens with Rintaro realising that his friend group chat has been dead after he fought with them the last time. But now that his relationship with Kaoruko is better, he can properly think about his friendships. However, he keeps making mistakes even in sports, signalling he’s not really at peace. Even his own friends realise that, and they decide to tail him quietly to see where he goes and whom he meets.

They all see Rintaro meeting up with Subaru and Kaoruko. Hilariously, Saku and others are conflicted with both feelings of jealousy and wonder as to what they’re doing at a cafe. Saku tries to tell his other friends to quiet down, but the other two just do not care. This segment was pretty laughable and gave the episode a lighthearted tone. Later, Rintaro goes on to express how he wants to tell everything to his own friend group, and wants permission for that from Subaru and Kaoruko. Here, he becomes very truthful about his true feelings, and later, we do get a display of his friendship with his boys, which was easily the best segment of this episode.

After things get clear, Rintaro remains a lousy player as he fails to concentrate. But he realises that his friends will still accept him for who he is, and this part was funny at first, but then it becomes very heartfelt. Rintaro finally clears things out with Saku, following which, he comes out of his slump.

Today’s episode was really good, as it had many things to offer. Firstly, it ultimately brings the story and the entire conflict revolving around Rintaro to a conclusion. Hopefully, a new window will open for this anime, and we will get to see other sides of these characters.
