The Exchange Trailer: Rawan Mahdi and Mona Hussain’s Sisterhood Power Takes Over Kuwait Stock Market

The Exchange Trailer has been unveiled after a brief teaser that was released a few weeks ago. Produced by Abdullah Boushahri and directed by Jasem AlMuhanna and Karim El Shenawy, the series is set to be streaming the next month on Netflix. Created and written by Nadia Ahmad, Anne Sobel and Adam Sobel, the show is inspired by true events, bringing a unique and untold women-centric story.

The official synopsis of the series reads, “Inspired by real events, two women set out to pioneer the cutthroat stock market of 1980s Kuwait — and disrupt its corrupt boy’s club along the way.”

The ensemble cast includes talents like Rawan Mahdi, Mona Hussain, Mohammed Almansour, Jasem Alnabhan, Hussain Almahdi, Faisal Alamiri, Maryam Alsalih, Esmahan Tawfiq, Hasan Ibrahim, Abdullah Bahman, Zahra Alkharji, Huda Alkhateeb, Saoud Boushahri, Mustafa Ashkanani, Mohamed AlKazimi, Abbas Khulaifi, Shabnam Khan and Rayan Dashti.

From The Exchange trailer, we can see that the show will take the audience on a journey to show the challenges of navigating a male-dominated industry during a time when the stock market in Kuwait was booming.

Farida, played by Rawan Mahdi, is a recent divorcee who is on a mission to prove she can provide for her daughter. Having been a devoted housewife and out of work for the last 13 years, Farida makes the decision to become self-sufficient and joins her cousin, Munira (Mona Hussain), to be the first woman at the Kuwaiti Stock Exchange.

Munira is a Clerk for the Bank of Tomorrow’s Trading Division, at the Kuwait Stock Exchange. An independent, smart and sassy woman, she is passionate about her career and strengthening her independence in her new job. But being accustomed to that world, she isn’t that much of a help to Farida at first, as she assigns her to just serve tea.

However, when the two start to face hurdles in a place dominated by men, where they aren’t taken seriously for anything. Together, Farida and Munira face challenges head-on, as they shatter the glass ceiling of the financial market, embarking on a journey of sisterhood, perseverance, ambition and strength. They decide to help each other and use their own strengths to show everyone what they are capable of.
