The Essex Serpent Trailer: Tom Hiddleston and Claire Danes Wrapped in Mysticism and Temptation

The Essex Serpent trailer exuberates mysticism, passion and the dangers and darkness of the unknown. This upcoming period drama is directed by Clio Barnard with a screenplay from Anna Symon based on the novel of the same name by Sarah Perry. The cast of the series features Claire Danes as Cora Seaborne and Tom Hiddleston as Will Ransome along with Frank Dillane as Luke Garrett, Hayley Squires as Martha, Clémence Poésy as Stella Ransome, Jamael Westman as Dr. George Spencer, Dixie Egerickx as Jo Ransome, Michael Jibson as Matthew Evansford and Ryan Reffell as John Ransome.

The trailer for the Apple TV+ series left a chilling feeling similar to that of Mike Flanagan’s Midnight Mass on Netflix. The Essex Serpent trailer brings the ever long battle of faith versus science to the forefront as passion sizzles and, fear and curiosity of an unknown creature perch on everyone’s mind. The trailer description for the series asks, “A widow, a village vicar, and a mythical beast…are the rumours true?”.

Apple TV’s official YouTube channel describes The Essex Serpent’s premise. It reads: “Set in Victorian England, the series follows London widow Cora Seaborne (Danes) who moves to Essex to investigate reports of a mythical serpent. She forms an unlikely bond with the village vicar (Hiddleston), but when tragedy strikes, locals accuse her of attracting the creature.”
