The episode opens with Tokiyuki celebrating his first New Year since joining the Suwa clan. His days are peaceful, filled with playful moments and training sessions with his companions. They train hard, play harder, and live the carefree life that kids their age should enjoy. However, trouble looms on the horizon as the first sign of danger appears when Yorishige suddenly loses his ability to foresee the future.

Although this loss is concerning, it’s not entirely unexpected, as Yorishige has experienced this temporary blindness before, and it usually passes. Yet, the situation becomes more precarious when Tokiyuki volunteers to defend Suwa Clan’s northern border, as others are occupied with guarding different areas. Yorishige is strongly opposed to this, not wanting any additional risks while he’s at his weakest. Despite his warnings, the young warriors decide to take matters into their own hands.

While travelling to the northernmost point of Suwa territory, they unexpectedly face a different kind of threat. They are ambushed by a lone warrior wielding twin blades, who appears to be around Tokiyuki’s age. His skills are formidable, easily keeping both Ayako and Kojiro at bay.

But this warrior is just the beginning. The real threat is Lord Sadamune’s new retainer, Shokan, who is as ruthless as he is fanatical. Shokan believes that any atrocity can be justified as long as one seeks forgiveness from God afterwards. His followers share his twisted mindset, making them a dangerous force. Even Sadamune acknowledges Shokan’s unscrupulous nature, admitting that he can’t afford to adhere to the warrior’s code in these turbulent times.

In the next episode, we might see Tokiyuki and his Elusive samurais, along with Fubuki get in a fight with Shokan. Shokan and his men are a ruthless bunch of people who have no qualms about ending innocent lives. They will definitely be a huge problem for our protagonists.
