The Elusive Samurai Episode 6 Recap

The Elusive Samurai Episode 7 Review Another Weirdo In The House

This episode begins on a tense note as Tokiyuki and Genba are nearly caught while trying to steal the emperor’s edict. For experienced escape artists like them, this should have been straightforward, but the presence of a formidable opponent with exceptional hearing abilities complicates things. Ichikawa quickly catches on to their plan and almost kills Tokiyuki.

While Sadamune was already unsettling, Ichikawa takes creepiness to a new level. He clings to his master and guides him on how to target the intruders. However, they are unaware that Genba has already been won over by Tokiyuki. Genba realizes that Tokiyuki would never betray him like others have, so he steps up and ultimately saves the day.

As a result, Tokiyuki gains another loyal retainer—not just out of faith in him but also motivated by money.

The episode gradually reveals more about the situation surrounding Takauji. His growing popularity and power are something that even the new emperor and his sons cannot ignore. There’s also the looming possibility that a man who betrayed the previous emperor could easily betray the current one as well. Sensing this, Prince Moriyoshi decides to take matters into his own hands and plans to bring down Takauji, who is more of a monster than a mere human.

The Elusive Samurai Episode 7 Review Another Weirdo In The House

Today’s episode has indeed started off on a light note, but by the end, we were informed of a very dangerous fate for the protagonist. The episode starts by showing us Tokiyuki’s 1st new year ever since he started living in the Suwa clan. His days are filled with peace and playful encounters with his aides. Not only do they train together, but they also play a lot and just live like how kids their age should live. However, other problems are not far behind, as the first instance of doom comes with the fact that Yorishige suddenly loses his ability to foresee the future.

But there is nothing to worry about, as this has happened before, and it is just a phase that will eventually go away. But in such a situation, things become more complicated when Tokiyuki volunteers to secure Suwa Clan’s northern border because others are busy protecting other borders. Yorishige is obviously strictly against this, as he doesn’t want any problems while he is at his lowest. But the elusive warriors choose their own fate nonetheless.

While travelling to the Suwa territory’s northernmost point, they unexpectedly encounter a different kind of threat. The elusive warriors get attacked by a single warrior wielding twin blades who must be around the same age as our protagonist. He is very talented and is able to keep both Ayako and Kojiro at bay without much effort.

However, he is nothing compared to the main enemy that Lord Sadamune has planted for the Suwa clan. His new retainer, Shokan, is not only violent but also thinks every atrocity can be committed if you ask for forgiveness from God afterwards. And did I mention his people are just as crazy as him? Even Sadamune refers to him as a scoundrel and accepts that he cannot follow the warrior’s code in turbulent times.
